hi everyone. I am coming up next thursday to fish a couple of days, and I think I'll fish out of Long Point. It has been a pleasure getting all of your information from this web site and putting it to good use. I would enjoy meeting some of you for fishing and always for some advice. If interested, either post me here or email me at '[email protected]'.

hey! I'll be coming up early friday from bemidji and will get there probably 6-7 am. i have a white dodge dakota and will have a clam, either a 5600 or a 6800 I will borrow from my brother. I plan to go out of long point unless you have better ideas as far as where they are catching them. Last time I was there I couldn't get reception on my cell phone but can email you my number. Maybe you could give a a tip on a good motel in Warroad then.

Hawksguy, you coming up alone? I may be able to hook up with you on Saturday. I was kinda planning on doing the Springsteel derby that day but if the weathers really nasty I'm not gonna sit outside on a bucket!
fiskyknut

Minneman: thats pretty close to where we are headed.I like the long point area for the short drive to deeper water. I guess it has been hot lately. Look us up out there or email me and we can hook up for sure.

Hi Guys,
I like to fish LOTW in later March or early April. The weather's nicer then and walleye is closed everywhere else. I wouldn't mind hooking up with someone. There's usually 2 or 3 of us that stay somewhere up there. We've been to both Long Point (which I really like) and to Zipple Bay. We like to go fish where the others are not. Usually get around by atv.

mjames: we will be up almost every weekend now until the first of april. you can always put out a shout like i did and set up a couple of days, whatever weekend you can get there there will be guys to hook up with.

Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion. Ice was in very good condition. Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park. There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing. The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out. The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island. There is a short spur road going east about half mile out. The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes. Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher. The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight. You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas. There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off. Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them. Fishing was average. Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit. Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75". Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes. Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.
