I stayed there last spring for open water fishing. The cabins were clean, and had everything you needed. I was surprised at how barren the property was, it was like they put up cabins in a field. If your looking for a place to sleep, it is fine. The "Outpost" in there name is fitting. It is a long haul to decent fishing though.

I booked a trip to the Angle outpost Resort for the second week in March. I was wondering if anyone could give me any information about this resort from past experiences. Any help and information would be greatly appreciated. Some friends that I am going with stayed with them quite a while ago but I was just wondering what I should expect. Thanks
Dutch

I stayed there in February 2003.
The cabin was great, clean, and very nice.
The owners were very friendly, and polite.
The fishing was guided thru another business, but they were great too.
We had good fishing, as usual on LOW.
The only thing that was bad was the extra drive up there, and going thru customs.
It was very cold when we were there, -15 was the daytime highs, at night it was close to -35. BRRRR!!!
There are no fish cleaning houses, we cleaned our fish in our cabins.
Thought that was kinda wierd, but oh well.
Good Luck, smile.gif

I know we have to cross the border to get to the resort. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of identification papers we need to have along. Any info on crossing the border would be very appreciated. Thanks

As for crossing the boarder, at the bare minimum, a D.L. They may want to see an additional I.D. I've never needed more than the D.L. however.
Remember to check in at the video phone when arriving at the "T" about 10 miles inside the Angle. You also need to check out there when departing.

Don't lip off to the guys at customs.
They will unload everything you got if you [PoorWordUsage] them off.
You need a DL at the minimum.
Maybe a Birth Certificate for kids. (Maybe)
No Guns.
No more than 1 case of beer or 1 bottle of booze per person.

Just to let everyone know they are checking ID's really hard. If you have had a DWI in the last 10 years and you get checked(which I am sure you will!) You will not be allowed across the border. Then you will have to call the resort because they have people that will take you there by snowmobile for $85. I know of about 10 people have got checked already. Just for your FYI!
Frogyy
Jigging for Pigs

Thanks for all of the information. It should be a great trip, but then again all trips to LOW is a great trip. Thanks

Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion. Ice was in very good condition. Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park. There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing. The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out. The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island. There is a short spur road going east about half mile out. The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes. Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher. The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight. You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas. There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off. Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them. Fishing was average. Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit. Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75". Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes. Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.

That's cute. My mother in law had all those little sayings. Her favorite was "Life's a betch then you die" so cheery. 😏
