Ed, I,ve heard the Red is the place to be for springtime Cats!! When does the bite usually start? I am planning to make a trip up there, yes, I know Spring is a little ways away but a Famous guide like you is probably booked out well in advance! Is the fishing as good as they tell me it is up there at that time of year? A chance at a 25# ? Thanks in advance

Famous may not be the best word for my fishing skill's, more like addicted maybe?

Spring is good as soon as the rivers return to there banks and water warms into the 50's.

For your best shot at a active 25 or better I would recommend July-August-September.

I see the highest numbers of 20+ cats in August, like 6 releases in a hour and total weight 130 LB's, that kind of cat'n.

Pretty much as soon as the ice is off and the river fall's they feed well tell it freezes up again. Just avoid the spawn at all cost that is dead water for 6-9 days! They hit spawn at or near 72 water temp, so late June is a average run.

Let me know a time frame and I may be able to help you out, not too booked up yet. If I can not I sure will point you to someone who can!

Good hearing from ya!
Let's fish!
