Snow / banks / drifts around Wheeler's

Plan to fish Wheeler's this weekend and am curious as to how much snow is on the ice in that area, and how big the banks are on the main road. I drive a Chevy Trailblazer, and pull my portable on a trailer. I've got 4-wheel drive, but there's not much clearance. Wondering if I'll need to borrow a truck to get off the main road. <P>Thanks for any reply.<P>Tight lines

RiverDrew,<BR>I was up there last week and went out fishing on Wednesday when the wind was 40 mph. It doesn't matter what type of vehicle you have. If it doesn't have a plow, do NOT drive off the main roads. There was a ton of snow when I was there, and they got more recently. With the drifting snow in that wind I stuck a new 3/4 ton Chevy 4 door 4x4 pickup. And that was on a side road! It wasn't hard getting out. Just had to shovel the snow around the wheels. Driving out on the main road was fine. We had this truck, plus a Chev Astro All Wheel Drive Van and he didn't get stuck. It helped that the van followed my tracks. The van made it over the island no sweat, so you'll be fine with the TrailBlazer.
