Hey Guys!
Still can't get over how great this site is. I can't wait to contribute some fishin' info! Killed 'em on cass if anyone is interested.
I posted before about our early Februsry trip. Got info to go to the reefs,(12,16). With the current fishin' situation, is that still a good tactic. Our buddy took the house out this past weekend out of Adrian's. He said he is 7.3 miles past pine Island. We do plan to move it if we need to. Just wondering about where to go from there. I am watching very closely for lure tips, seems to be all over the board. Are the reefs still the place to go for consistent action with some larger fish thrown in? What's a good depth to concentrate on?
Thanks guys!
FISH TILL IT HURTS!!
[This message has been edited by leech (edited 01-27-2004).]

I am interested in you Cass report, my father in law has a cabin on the lake but we see very few ice fish. I thought maybe it does not produce walleyes in the winter, any tips would be great

7.3 past the island was where I was over the past weekend. Fri was great, Sat ok , and Sunday was slow. Lots of huge perch too. Good luck!
------------------
End of the Line Charters
Lake Superior
1-888-U-HOOK-EM
www.fishontheline.com

Hey walley!!
Cass has been producing all year! Summer and winter! The best bite this winter has been on the mid-lake bars. Deadmans bar has been good. Stony point has been good. 17-25 feet has been most consistent. Although, I have had luck in 8-12 off and on. Don't overlook the shallows. The big perch bite can be fast and furious. I like to set my portable in about 15-18 feet and then move around deep to shallow. If this sounds like it's straight out of a magazine, sorry, but it's what's going on. If your looking for a bigger fish. I would get on Deadman's bar. About in the middle it reaches out to the west, drops into a 50' trough, them back up to a 10' hump. A good map, and GPS coord's are very, very helpful.
Hope that helps!!
FISH TILL IT HURTS!!

Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion. Ice was in very good condition. Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park. There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing. The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out. The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island. There is a short spur road going east about half mile out. The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes. Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher. The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight. You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas. There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off. Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them. Fishing was average. Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit. Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75". Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes. Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.
