This is a question for those of you who fish out of these two locations. Where are they located in regard to Wheelers Point. I've never been to either and just curious as to the locations. My map does not show either of these, however it does show Springsteel out of Warroad. Just curious. Great to read all of your reports from these areas. Thanks, Bill

Bill, My Fishing Hot Spots LOW SW Section map, shows Rocky Point, that's where Arnesen's and Babler's are located. I do most of my winter fishing out of Long Point Resort and Babler's using my own house, we start at Long Point on first ice and move over to Babler's when its safe to hit the reef's, thats where we are now. We fished Tues. caught about 35, half walleye & sauger, but they ran small, in the 13" class, we were in 31', will try deeper next time up. Thanks for all your input.
[This message has been edited by Kingfisher (edited 01-22-2004).]

Arnesons (rocky point) fish mainly gull rock, 12mile,16mile, and the mud flats in those areas.
Gibbons is located on the rainy river, not too sure where they put there houses though.

Kingfisher/Widetrack: Thanks for the info. Was curious as to their location on the lake and you answered that for me. Good luck, and hang on. Bill

Widetrack,
Just wondering if you have been getting into any size of walleyes? I know you are always on fish, but you been doing well this week with this cold weather. I am trying to decide if it is worth the trip up this weekend. Also wondering if the mud around 16 mile has been going yet????

WS:
I haven't fished since the 10th, so I don't have any very recent news.
This is the time of year, now through Feb, that the flats come into play. I'm not much for fishing the open flats, too much of a [PoorWordUsage] shoot for me. If I'm fishing over mud it's generally not too far off some rock structure.
I know you are really wanting to catch that 10lber, and if that was my goal, I'd head to bridges/knights, and fish structure. Big fish are a odds game, and those rock piles out there put the odds closer in your favor.
Fish the edges during the day, and up top morning and evening.
Sure you will catch big fish over flats at times but it's more a needle in a haystack thing.

WS:
PS, 16 is far to crowded now in my opinion to be a very good option.
