Weekend Report 1/17

We were out of Gibbins Sleepers and Fished Fri & Sat and ended up with about 50 Wally & Sauger and had a great time. Caught only 1 pout after day lite hours so remember the cards if staying in a sleeper. House had everything needed and stayed warm despite the -20 temps when leaving. Even though fishing was "slow" compared to earlier in the year it was better than a weekend on MLacs !! We also fished URL on the way up for a couple hours and ended up with 5 crappies that were good treats for Friday brunch.

Just returned from 4 days on LOW out of Warroad, near Buffalo.<P>Lots of Jumbo perch that really surprised us. The walleye and saugers were there, not in large numbers, but we did average 6 walleyes and slightly more saugers each day per person. <P>No large fish, largest was 21" I believe. The pout were not too active either.<P>By far the slowest trip in 5 years we've rented a sleeper house for 4 days, but still fun! Last year we completely ran out of bait sometimes, so no more out of control dink feeding frenzy out there.<P>The key was aggressive jigging spoons. Anything with a rattle AND glow were the best. My Angel Eye Jr. glow yellow/white was a very good producer. Dead sticking or bobbers were very, very low on activity. My rattle reel didn't get a bite for 4 hours once, but the Angel Eye kept me plenty entertained! <P><BR> <p>[This message has been edited by ChuckN (edited 01-20-2004).]
