Fire near trout lake?

Just saw something about a small fire, couple acres, up near trout lake...   Anybody got more info?

I heard a second hand report, too, and looked into it. There’s a 1-2 acre fire just NE of the east end of Vermilion. They call in the Rice Lake fire. It’s in the Trout Lake section of the BWCA but not close to Trout. The incident report sounds like they’ll get it under control, but these fires are hard to predict. There are quite a few fires going in the Arrowhead now. Some like Greenwood SE of Ely are getting big… 19,000 acres. I think that the smoke we smelled yesterday when we had the SE wind.
We need rain and we need snow this winter or things could get a lot worse.

The Lake Vermilion cabin owners Facebook page has some good information, plus interesting video from areas by Isabella where the fire went through. Sad to watch!!

For those interested there is a site AirNow.gov that shows air quality by Zip Code. Google Air Quality Map and tap AirNow link - enter zip code. For me, green ok, yellow limit outside, orange and a above stay in.

The air quality around Vermilion is quite poor right now.
