Hello I am looking for a weight system to help me catch more fish. I am torn between Snakebite Snaps and Offshore Snap Weights. They are 2 very different clips. Anyone know anything about either? Was looking to grab some here soon.

Fished Lake of the Woods yesterday during this tropical heat wave.. I'll tell you what, if you're planning on fishing in these temps, bring backup gear for your essentials (Heat, Auger, etc). Doing this was key for us yesterday when the buddy heater hose was acting up due to the cold. We had a fun day! Check out the video below:

Just wondering when jigging for eyes in the winter, why is the standard to tip a jig with a minnow head and not the whole minnow or the minnow tail? Would seem like a more natural presentation to tip with the tail and not the head. Anyone experimented with this?

Can't seem to ever get a sled ride together anymore on the other side of the wall.
Any guys with a sled and porty want to get together for a meetup and fish somewhere some weekend for the day or weekend if way up north?
Crappies-Walleyes both?
Mill Lacs, Brainerd area................? The more the merrier, safety in numbers helps if someone needs a pull or getting out of slush.
Not a big plan. Meet at a lake. Stare at the lake map, mark a spot or spots on the gps and head out.
Not really worried about a cookout, but we could just cuts into fishing time. Bring our own lunch, bait and pop or?
Don't want to count out wheelers with portys but hope you can hang if its deep or slushy. 😕
Oh forget the Public service announcement: Portys must be fished at least 6' feet apart or more!. Wearing a mask is a good idea on a cold sled ride. No talking about Trump, Biden or God will also keep us safe from each other! 😆
So again, no big complicated plan. Meet up, check map, go fishing! 👍

Leech Lake. I am wondering what to expect. I think I might go out on Boy bay using the public landing on Sugar Point. First are there any safety concerns, ice conditions to worry about, Landing safe? Second what can I expect for fish? Kind of looking for some nice panfish during the day and a stray walleye or two towards evening

Alright, looking for insight from some people who know more about sitting and waiting for fish than I do. Last year I bough some tip ups and had some luck on them but now I see it appears to be all the rage to use the IFish Pro stuff and use a rod and reel. Anybody out there feel like these actually do any better than a standard old tip up or is it just about not having a mess of line on the ice after having a flag. Moved to MN from mostly fishing northerns on tip ups which didn't seem to care about things not spinning as smooth as these darn walleyes do around here. Would a rod and reel system like the ifish pro or finicky fooler actually help to have less false flags? I'm at a bit of a loss here with the more picky fish.

12/3/20 a female posted 4" ice on the Coon lake channel with photo of someone in a hub fishing. A comment stated someone also caught a 24" walleye in the channel. Over the years you may see a half dozen anglers early ice on the channel. Saturday 12/5 I stopped by the channel and counted about 54 anglers crowded in the 300' x 800' channed and 6 or so cars driving around looking for a place to park. Yesterday 60+ crowded the channel. Really hard to fix stupid. Walleye slot over 17". Won't be long before DNR Walleye reduction changes.

Last summer while doing a surgery recovery, i got into watch the canal harbor cams of Duluth. Not sure what is going on but at night there has been several people dropping what could be nets or a trap over the side of the wall. Would like to know if these guys are catching smelt or bait? -

I probably won’t turkey hunt this spring - working way too much! This morning before heading out I had multiple birds gobbling from the area I got mine last year. Probably would’ve been an easy score. -

Hey all, just moved back to MN where I grew up after living in the PNW for a long while. I became addicted to fishing rivers and streams out there and have started to check out the offerings in the NW section of the state as of yesterday’s opener. Wondering if anyone has experience in this area and can give me some pointers or just tell me if I’m wasting my time since that’s what I’m wondering right now since I didn’t find any signs of fish. I’m using a spinning rod with Mepp’s and Panther Martin style spinners and went through a bunch of color combos. I started yesterday morning at the Clearwater River in western Beltrami County essentially on the border with Clearwater County where the state has some land and a pretty lengthy easement. Probably a well known area. Beautiful area to walk through. Found multiple holes, but yeah no fish at all. I waded for a bit and decided to leave. I went south since I live closer to Moorhead and stopped at Felton Creek. I’ve read a DNR study about this creek having a decreasing population of fish, but it’s still considered a trout stream although not “designated”. I understand the channelization of creeks in this region ruined fish habitat over the last 100 years, but still find some DNR material as of the last 5 years that reference Felton Creek as a spot for trout. Walked the stream for a bit before I left and headed to Lawndale Creek south of Barnesville. I waded through the AMA on the Atherton WMA expecting to find some brook trout since the DNR has stocked it as of at least 2017. Nothing through the entire stretch besides frogs and minnows. Are there actually fish in these places? The Clearwater and Lawndale are designated trout streams. The Clearwater is stocked annually and Lawndale is supposed to have wild brook trout. Anyone have any experience in these spots? Should’ve just drove down MN200 & 71 to the obvious spots in Becker/Hubbard? -

As of April 15, the Canadian side of rainy lake, from the causeway up to devils cascade, is ice free. I believe that is the earliest ice out. Water is coming up as we had 2 1/2” of rain last week along with 1/2” of snow. -
