Recieved an email today from a Realty Company regarding a 15 unit motel for sale near Wheelers Point. If I remember correctly the name was Lake Road Motel. Considering all of the posts for people looking for accomadations this might not be a bad venture. The pictures looked as if the property is in nice condition. Bill

Just stayed there this weekend and its a good place to stay. We always stay there. Always full on weekends and some weekdays. Great heated fish cleaning house and nice spacious clean rooms. Only thing is I wish they had a Coffee Pot and a small fridge. I cant see this place not making money!

Try this link for the motel. I hope it's allowed.<P><A HREF="http://www.northwest-national.com/29-428.htm" TARGET=_blank>http://www.northwest-national.com/29-428.htm</A>

Seeker: Folk2000 has the link posted below. To summarize, it is a 15 unit motel on 4 acres of land with living quarters. It also has a large pole building on the property and the advertised price is $299,000. The photos that were provided looked good and the above post confirms that the units are pretty decent, minus the coffee pot. Bill

I have stayed there numerous times and its not that bad at all. However, it nothing like a real lodge or motel. I think they are asking way to much for that area. It will be a long time before you see a profit. Unless you started a guide and ice fishing service, then you might have a chance! Just my opinion! I bet they will take half that offer!

Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion.  Ice was in very good condition.  Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park.  There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing.  The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out.  The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island.  There is a short spur road going east about half mile out.   The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes.  Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher.  The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight.  You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas.  There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off.  Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them.   Fishing was average.  Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit.  Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75".  Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes.   Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.
