Getting back into the fun

Hello fishingminnesota! Newbie here with an abundance of freetime thanks to the virus.

For way too long I was too busy to get out. I have lost time to make up! It's early in the spring season but I'm dying to get out there and find some good fishing spots. I frequent trails around Eagle lake, Medicine lake, the parkway lakes (Harriet, Lake of the Isles, Bde Maka Ska, etc), and sometimes the coon rapids dam. I hope this is the year I finally hook my first catfish (that isn't a bullhead). Also looking into raising my own worms...

I'm ambitious 😅

Sorry PeachyHan

I'm sure the site owner did not mean to assume your identity.  He's getting old and his eye sight is not what it use to be.  Plus there are so many other members with Peachy in the forum names. 😄

New 2020 boat. Livewell is leaking into the boat. Upon further review I found the leak. It's on the white fitting of the recirculation system where the water goes back into the livewell. I'm sure the rigger broke the little nipple on the right side when he installed the fuel/water separating filter as the gray gas line is right there. My question is where does the tubing from the little nipple go? The front livewell?

Hi all. I am currently at Rush Lake near Perham at Four Seaons Resort. We’ve been here three days and have caught basically nothing. Can anyone give me some advice on walleyes here? Where to go and good baits for this lake? I’ll take any advice on any type of fish you might experience with on this lake. Never been here before.....

Has anybody used these Felpro washers? My kid's Corollas oem washer is coated aluminum. This Felpro is a synthetic material. I mistakenly ordered it from Rock Auto. Not a big loss if I chuck them and get the oem ones. OEM on the left. Felpro on the right.

I have TWO new Adirondack Chair and Table sets available for immediate sale. Both sets include two chairs and a ceramic-top table. One set also includes a pair of matching footrests.
These sets are constructed of weather-resistant Canadian cedar which will last many years. The chair frames and armrests use 2 x 6 and 2 x 8 lumber making them the sturdiest Adirondack chairs available. They are also coated with a minimum of two coats of premium deck/furniture stain and assembled using only rust-proof coated deck screws.

The chairs are designed to accommodate most individuals from petite to XXXL and have a contoured seat and back so you can comfortably sit in these for hours. All edges and sitting surfaces are rounded and sanded smooth for added comfort.
These are available for immediate pick-up in the Grand Rapids area ... or I can deliver within a 15 mile radius at no charge. Delivery beyond 15 miles of Grand Rapids is also available for a nominal charge.

      Full Set - $800:
      - 2 Adirondack Chairs
      - 2 Matching Footrests
      - 1 Matching Ceramic-topped Side Table

      Chair/Table Set - $600
      - 2 Adirondack Chairs
      - 1 Matching Ceramic-topped Side Table

These are available as sets only. However I can build separate pieces to your order.

Please PM me for questions or with orders. First come, first served. New orders typically take 3 or 4 weeks.

Hey all, I’m new to the state (moved here from Ontario) and am in the Eagan area. I was sad to find that my boat is a little large for most lakes within a short drive (20-30 minutes), so I bought a kayak. The boat will get saved for trips up north.

Anyways, I was hoping to get some info on lakes/ rivers to try around Eagan. I don’t need specific spots, just lakes that hold fish. Was hoping for walleye/ crappie/ pike.

      Any tips would be appreciated!

My family and I are making a trip up next week to Vermilion.  This will be the 6th time to the lake.  I was thinking about staying a little longer, but the place we have rented only rents per the week.  Is there a place on the lake that rents nightly?

      Hey all!
I moved to Rogers, MN last summer and so I decided I should try out some smallmouth fishing from shore in the rivers around here! Problem is, I struggled to catch any last fall. Before I try again this spring, I am hoping to get some feedback on the spots I am trying. I know there are smallmouth in these fisheries, but maybe these are bad spots?

      Mississippi River:
      - Monticello: East and West Bridge Park
      - Anoka: Peninsula Point Park
      Rum River:
      - Anoka: Dam in downtown
      Orono Lake:
      - Under the Highway 10 bridge.

These are my main lures I have tried: Chatterbaits, Crankbaits, jigs w/craw, swim-jigs, weightless senko, spinnerbaits

Anyway, any feedback on those spots or if I should try a different approach would be appreciated. Happy fishing all! Weather is starting to get nice finally!

The warranty is in place. I didn't ask how to fix it or if the dealer would fix it. I was just wondering where the tubing off the nipple goes. I thought I'd ask here before the dealer.

On Big Bay we experienced levels of boat traffic like you did - it was more than most any 4th of July weekend.  On Saturday night at 8 pm, we were in the middle of Big Bay and counted 77 boats that we could see from that spot.  After seeing all that boat traffic we figured there would be lots of traffic on the way home, but we left at 4:30 pm and were very pleasantly surprised that there was no traffic to speak of.  Either everyone left early, or they were staying until today.

Agreed, the eyes didn’t look healthy and didn’t have much spunk, even for walleyes.  We caught some off the dock fishing leeches under floats in about 8-9 fow.   Lots of boats out!  I don’t visit Mille Lacs much so I don’t know if the memorial crowd was more than usual but I have a feeling it wasn’t.  Except for the rain showers that moved through we could count anywhere from 45 -100 boats from the dock at any given time.

My brother was up there on Sunday with the Nephew and had a 70 fish day. He said most were 18 to 21 inches with a few 22 23's and 24's mixed in. Think they also got a few 25 and 26ers. Leech's lindy rigging off Agate reef and Half moon deep side 21 ft plus.

Did some Crappie fishing in the area over the weekend the bite was on. Grandson had a blast. Wife also had a good day fishing for once. They were some very nice sized fish. Plain hook and minnow and ice fishing teardrop lures in green did the trick with minnow. One day plain hook ruled next day green jigs did.

Some nice Catfish down further towards Pokegama also.

In my 15+ years of ownership, I have never seen boat traffic like we had in Black Bay over the week/weekend. During the week there were 5-10 boats and each day while this weekend there were 20-30 boats from morning-to-night hunting crappies. There was no hot spot, just boats everywhere.    When I finally went home last night after 1.5 weeks up, I noted that someone backed their trailer into the dock at The Landing. The rubber bumper was hanging off. It must have been a hoot to sit around watching all of the boats going in and out.
