A couple of us bass guys are looking for a new lake to fish next summer. We are planning on spending a week on a lake and was wondering if Pelican was a good destination for our group.  A lot of the lake looks shallow on the map we have. Any comments on this lake woukld be appreciated.

A new lake...... does that mean you’ve fished Vermilion?

i can’t comment on Pelican. But, I’ve spent many seasons fishing Vermilion for bass. I’d consider( any many others more in the know) Vermilion as a premier bass lake.

Pelican is said to be a good bass and gill lake. No personal experience.   Mille Lacs also has great rep for smallies.

We have fished Vermilion several times. Good bass lake for sure. Have fished Mille Lacs for bass and that was an amazing day of bass fishing. The one thing we have found about Vermilion is if you don't get there early in the year they move deep and you have to fish them like walleyes.

Pelican Has lots of bucket mouth and small mouth in it. If your interested in a resort in the lake highly recommend Joe over at Deer Lodge
