Don’t need special charger. Already checked

Are you sure? I just  visited their website directly and found this:

https://dakotalithium.com/product/dakota-lithium-12v-battery-charger/?v=7516fd43adaa

Quote

All 12 volt Dakota Lithium batteries should be charged using a LiFePO4 compatible charger. SLA chargers will reduce the performance and lifespan of the battery

That doesn't mean you have to buy the one on their site, but I don't think the chargers that came with vex and marcum units to charge SLA (sealed lead acid)  battery will charge the lithium batteries correctly. I don't want any one to fork out the $ for one of these and then ruin it.

Good luck, I am still on the fence on these, have handled them in person and the weight saving is great but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Sounds like it might reduce the 2000 cycles a bit. I am fine with that. I will be a test subject.

I bought one last year for my Marcun lx6.  Very nice weight reduction with loads on power.  Lots of chargers will work.  No need to buy theirs unless you want to.

The Energizer lithium has even better reviews and improved technology over the Dakota batteries.  With these batteries its not just about the weight,(although for us run and gun fisherman who might fish 150+ holes in a day with 3 feet of transducer cord hanging out it is really nice).   They outlast the SLA batteries by a significant amount of time.  Not a big issue with the flasher units but for the folks using the larger digital screen units with GPS it allows a full day or two of fishing without worrying about running out of juice.

I really love the ducer holder I grabbed last winter from coby manufacturing. Also for fun I started just putting the ducer about half way down the hole. Works dandy and it really slows down the gills from wrapping around the cord and I don't have to hold the unit up in the air going from this hole to the next one. Saves on the arm also. Probably wouldn't matter if I was 25... LOL

Saw those at Scheels in St. Cloud this afternoon.  Light!  The sticker shock blew back my hat a little but there’s always at least 1 significant upgrade to the ice fishing arsenal every year.  It’s not my upgrade yet but maybe later.  I was checking for a drill adapter for my new to me 8 inch Nils bit.  I like the 6 so much on the drill but sometimes I want an 8.

Anyone have an extra laying around?!

I put my lazer bit on my dewalt brushless the other day with a homemade adapter (piece of pipe and a bolt) tryed it out the other day and was amazed, very smooth setup and since I have the max XR kit I have the nice lithium battery’s ( 2 and 4 ah) so I’m set for first ice drilling. Super light setup. Only downside is I don’t have a size handle for the drill so I just have to be mindful and not break my wrist.

@AlwaysFishing23 Sounds like some good ingenuity there.

I found the manufacturer of the unit I have in my 6 inch bit and ordered a new one During breakfast this morning.  Should be good to go.

How's the performance of the lithium in the cold?

All batteries are impacted by cold.  But the lithium batteries are impacted less than SLA batteries.

hey guys....i think its making ice!!!!!!!!!!👍   sorry its been quiet here!!!!!!

Stopped by Fleet Farm today, picked up new FL-8se. Super quit running. Tested current uses 200ma set at 20ft. Increases to 224ma with Gain set to max. Uses less power when set to deeper depth - 120ft only draws 150ma.

Hey - She looks to be locked up.  Let the fishing begin!!!  From today the satellite shot.  This is no indication of ice thickness.  Have fun and be safe.  Reports of ice only 2 inches thick in areas.

looks like with the cold weather this week some operators will be allowing 1/2 ton trucks out. i'm coming up this weekend with my kids. Will still bring the wheeler just because the drama associated with a sinking vehicle and 2 kids would be a bit more than i want to handle.  I always loved using the waskish minnow station. i had some great adventures out there. But i never did see one of those seals you talked about. 😁

Do I dare ask if it's local steel? 🤪   It's good to see some progress.

You take care, Kelly!  My boys will never forget the early trips with you.  We have continued the tradition with Johnny.  I'm not sure how many years in a row it has been, but it's gotta be at least 16 or 17 years.

I will again be going out and checking ice this Friday 4pm on Linwood and Forest Lake #1. Will report when I get back.💥💥💥💥

A new lake...... does that mean you’ve fished Vermilion?   i can’t comment on Pelican. But, I’ve spent many seasons fishing Vermilion for bass. I’d consider( any many others more in the know) Vermilion as a premier bass lake.
