Good Minnesota River Shorefishing Spots Near Carver Area

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of any good shore fishing spots on the Minnesota River in Carver. Not Carver County, but the city of Carver. The river is pretty high right now, so I don't know if that affects anything. I know this one little ledge you can go to once you are inside the campground, and I have seen evidence of people fishing these, given some got a lure stuck to a log in the water with line still attached. And, what kind of lures should I be using. I wanna go for anything, except maybe catfish or muskies, because I don't have the gear for those. I did see a post the other day about shore fishing for White Bass on the Minnesota in Mankato, so would something like that be good for me? I guess my one question would be, let's say I am trying to jig with a soft plastic, how do I "avoid" the current? Thanks for any tips anyone can give me! If not in Carver, than in the nearby area, like Chaska, Jordan, etc.

Anyone know of lakes with decent shore fishing near Mankato? I've gone to North Shore on Madison Lake but can't find any shore on other lakes near by. Any suggestions?

Looking for some fun easy Shore fishing spots. New to fishing as an adult, only fished when I was 10-13 in scouts. From California having moved to Moorhead Oct 18, just got fishing license for my wife and I.

Bought some poles and gear and just wondering if anyone can point me in the directions of some great spots to fish off shore, as we do not have a boat.

      Thank you.

Hello, I am new to the forums here.
I am going to try fishing on the Minnesota river between hwy 77 and 35w. I have a 14ft aluminum boat with a 10hp motor. I don't have much experience boating on the river and i was looking for some tips on what do when encountering a barge and any other river boating info that would be helpful.
      Thanks!

This summer I am looking to fish Lake Superior from shore this summer and coming fall. I have never fished a lake of this size of for these fish before. How can I make my trip successful? Any tips for beginners? What rod/reel should I get, and what line/rigs should I use? What should I look for when finding a spot to fish? Are there any hot spots I should try in the Duluth area?

Simple question and don't give up your hotspots:
You think crappies will be reachable by shore yet? By this weekend? It's gonna be nice, but a little windy. I'm heading out with the kids and we'll be hitting a few shore spots on different lakes within the same latitudes as the twin cities,  but just outside of the cities. Just curious what you all think based on your findings or experience.

I'll be fishing the red river this weekend from Saturday until Sunday for giant channel kitties.  On the Minnesota side, where is the best public place to shorefish for one of these trophies?  Also, what bait tends to work the best if you're not using cut bait?  I'm looking for alternatives.  Thank you guys!

Wanderer,      I have a mixed spread of goose floaters. In the picture Parker is wrapping up a Dakota Honker, but I also have Dakota Lessers, Avian X, Final Approach, and Greenhead Gear floaters for a spread with a wide variety of sizes, body positions, and head positions. Sentries, swimmers, greeters, actives, drinkers, resters, and sleepers, depending on the brand.

Finish to the 2021 season was relatively slow, much like the first half. We did get some nice flocks of ringers to work the decoys, and some new mallards showed up and were somewhat cooperative. Finally got our first nice flock of bluebills to pitch right in to the decoys on our last day on the water. Once most water started to freeze, we finished the season in a field near my Dad's over Thanksgiving break. On one day we got several groups of mallards to drop right in and nearly land on our A-Frame blind, plus a goose. One other day we got a pair of geese to center up nicely over the decoys. Decent end to the season. With my son shooting one shell for his first season shooting, he got first crack at singles, and when multiples came in my Dad shot, while I backed up Parker first, then took one bird if he folded his clean. This led to fewer birds harvested than a typical season, but seeing my son take his next step as a hunter and harvest almost thirty ducks and three geese was well worth taking fewer shots than normal myself. My Dad was able to harvest near normal for him for a season, and Parker is getting the nicest bull can in the pictures mounted. I will be back in the fishing report clubs as soon as there is enough ice to get out on safely. Good luck and I will see you out there somewhere.

I had to adjust both my garage doors springs to open my doors further. I was going to mount a light bar on mine for ice fishing but now i don't think I can. You also need watch out for the rope for the release. I closed it in my door and closed the garage as I backed out.
