Heading up to Cyrus' resort this weekend and wondering if anybody has had experience with this resort. I have heard good things from a couple of relatives, but you know how they can be. Any info will help. Thanks

I stayed at Cyrus for the first time last month. The cabin was very clean. The people working there are real nice. I have no complaints.

Just returned from there this afternoon. 3 of us started the trip fishing out of Long Point in my permenant on Monday the 12th. We fished for a 1/2 day and kept 15 nice saugers. 11 of us fished Tuesday out of their houses. It was a slow day of fishing. We didn't mark many fish and the ones we did, we really had to work to get them to bite. I have never changed lures that many times as I did on Tuesday.
Wednesday was a better day. They put us different houses but in the same depth. For whatever reason the fish were more aggresive. 8 of us kept 66 walleye/sauger. Also caught 6 real nice perch and quite a few white fish. Anything glow seemed to work the best. Keep them well charged.
As far as the resort goes, I would highly recommend it. Great people and great food. Would highly recommend you having them cook your fish one night. We did this our last night there, VERY GOOD!

We were at Cyrus last year. Very helpful guides and clean cabins. Beer was plenty good. Salad Bar was awful but otherwise food was pretty good. Sportsman's food/bar is better and we've had better fishing luck with them but no complaints about Cyrus otherwise.

I stayed at Cyrus for the fourth year over New Years. We had very good luck fishing and the cabins are very clean and suitable. The people there are very nice and helpful. They were in the process of moving the houses out farther but we still had very good fishing. The world according to grumpy.

I've always gone to Cyrus when the water's soft, so I really can't tell you how they perform for ice fishing. The staff and owners of Cyrus are always helpful and friendly. jig-em

Just got back form Cyrus' yesterday and like all said previously, they are very nice people and work hard to put you on fish. Fished Fri. and Sat. and had okay fishing. We were marking LOTS of fish, but was a tough bite. Changed lures LOTS and all went home with some fish. Nothing huge, but action was helpful.I think the COLD front that was coming in goofed things up a bit. The one thing I would recommend is a cushion for your chair in the icehouse. The food is GREAT. Had good luck on the hammered gold & red angel eye Jr. also Keep jigging. Seemed like the jigged lines prodeced 2 to 1 over the dead stick. just my thoughts.
Later

Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion. Ice was in very good condition. Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park. There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing. The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out. The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island. There is a short spur road going east about half mile out. The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes. Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher. The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight. You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas. There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off. Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them. Fishing was average. Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit. Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75". Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes. Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.
