I have a question...saw a  property on eastside... across the lake from Shamrock.

Swim Bouys...

Can a lake property owner keep a boat from cruising by (too close)?

Did they put the bouys out?

Can we add them around our dock?

Anyone know the story?

Thanks

From the DNR boating guide starting with page 49    https://files.dnr.state.mn.us/rlp/regulations/boatwater/boatingguide.pdf    :

"Individual Swim Areas

The owner or lessee of shoreline property may mark off up to 2,500 square feet, but not more than 50 feet along the lake frontage, for a swimming area directly in 50front of his or her property. No watercraft may enter this area but the water remains public waters.Markers to designate an individual swimming area must:• Be white with an orange diamond and cross on each side. A white gallon plastic bottle with the orange markings painted on each side fulfills this requirement.• Extend out of the water at least 6 inches but no more than 14 and should be spaced no more than 15 feet apart."

Has to be the spot on Aleppo island. I know that place well and have never seen anyone swimming there. They are definitely meant to keep boats from getting too close. Casting that island is very popular with the musky guys.

That’s the place. Kinda got yelled at while putting thru.  Maybe , 2 mph, 55 degree water, no swimmers.  No fishing, just looking at property.  Felt like entitlement.

Who owns the place?

Anyone know where the Dayton place is?

The Dayton’s place is west end by Muskego point resort.  The swim bouys are out in front of the Mortensons of ( MA Mortensen Construction) mbeyer says “ seemed liked entitlement”. I agree 100%. I’m right across the lake from there

Wouldn’t surprise me if it is/was owned by someone important that wanted privacy. You can hardly even see the house back up in there. I’ve heard Farrah Fawcetts name thrown around before but I’m sure that’s just wishful thinking from whoever owned our cabin back in the day. Our place would’ve had a prime view of her dock with the right set of binoculars 😁

Sounds like I'll have to go buzz by. Maybe a good spot for floatilla?

Before we over-react, I put a swim buoy out in front of my place for years. I had grandchildren swimming off the dock and Miami Vice boats would come screaming by literally 10 yards off the end of the dock. If everyone would follow the rules about wakes near shore I would never have had to bother with it. Circumstances vary but not everyone puts out a buoy because they feel entitled!

I was not going to go yesterday but the weather was too nice to stay home. Fished about 5 hours but only got 4 bass and one pike. Not one hit on my go-to jigs & plastic! I don't recall that ever happening over 5 hours. Got a few bass on surface lures (and the pike) and a few on cranks. Water was almost 6 degrees warmer than the day before. The nights finally stayed above the low 40s so that has to have helped.   I have been marking very few fish in water less than 30 feet. I rarely fish deeper than that.   Got desperate a few days ago and went down to Pelican. Not much better down there. A few crappie and dink pike and about 6 nice bass.   Headed north of Red Lake, Ontario in a week. Hope things are going better way up there.

My wife and 2 Labs are boat camping on the east side of the Brule Narrows this week. We have been here dozens of times, but with late spring, I am wondering what patterns are working for the smallies and walleyes. Thanks 'Pout

Cobra, welcome back.  To bad no replies in almost 3 years to your inquiry.  Their beautiful dogs but there must not be many owners of them on here?  🤔   Like I have been asking for about 4 years if there are any Dual Sport bike owners on this site?  😉

I haven't been on the website in a long time so long delayed reaction. Sorry   I do have an English Pointer and I live in Longville. My old dog passed away a few weeks ago at almost 15 years old!!! I still have my young dog with special bloodlines. His father came from the last vial of Guard Rail semen. So to have a grandson of a Hall of Fame dog that died in the early 80's is very rare.

This weather is making it tough to get out and pinning down a consistent bite.  Wind had blown out if every imaginable direction in the past 5 days along with frequent storms keeping us off the lake.  With that said this us what I know.   Walleyes are still going at night on cranks in 5-8 fow.  During the day can be found on 16-25 fow and are biting on crawlers,  leeches and shiner minnows.   Perch are still on flats in 4-8 fow and you'll need to sort to get the nice ones.  Sunfish and crappies are still in the reeds in Allen's Bay and Kitchi.   Water temps have been up and down a lot this week. Currently we have 67-70 degrees in the spots I fished yesterday.
