I have used it, it is just as orange under the water. I fish fussy fish in gin clear lakes and used a short flouro leader attached with a blood knot.

I am using the micro flo green 2 years now and I see no diff in catching fish even in clear water so was wondering if the neon orange would affect the bite. I wont mess with the floro leader. Love the green cuz these eyes can see it. Figured I could see the orange as well and get same line diameter with 4 pound test as my 3 pound micro ice. Might try one reel with it next year to see how it goes. Thx for the replies.

I don't think that it would deter most panfish, but I do think that the biggest wisest monster bluegill or oldest slab crappie would recognize that something wasn't 'quite right' and ignore it long enuf for a smaller fish to test it first. I use 100% flourocarbon leaders for 2 reasons, excellent abrasion resistance and zero visibility. I'm not after 99% of the fish... Just want to fool the biggest!!

I like to fool them all. :) my older eyes like to see the line. Sent suffix a note, will see if I get an answer. I read from a few pros that they dont care for flouro cuz it doesnt last as long and more memory. I spose the leader would be nice cuz maybe dont have to retie as often? 2 breakoffs yesturday cuz I didnt retie soon enough. I usually check the strength after a couple fish. so many fish, so little time.

I use it without a leader and the big gills, crappies and jumbo perch don't mind it at all.  I fish since pretty clear water and pressured fish.  I generally run 3lb though.  I also fish the clear and haven't noticed any difference in the bite when I switch rods.  It's all about what you have confidence in.

thx jeff,  seeing the 3 micro and 4 suffix have the same diameter I will for sure give the 4 a try to see it holds up better. i use tungsten 4mm 95 % of the time so i am thinking should react the same to my jigging with the .007 diameter.

I bought the bright green stuff (only because clear was sold out), thinking it would disappear in the water. It didn’t. In fact, it was extremely visible. I still caught a brown trout on Lake Superior, so apparently the fish don’t mind. It is a lot easier tying knots amongst an icy white backdrop though.

I have been using Sufix 832 braid  neon yellow and Advance mono for leaders with a small Spro swivel or tied direct to the line with a nail knot.  I have 4 lbs Advance spooled on a couple of my ice reels and it worked great on the inlines ,  but the spinning reel had problems. Advance has very low stretch and good knot strength .It has a larger diameter and for me It's  easier to tie .  have tried Flouro and can't see the difference . This year I started using Mustad snap on clips . Much easier to change jigs and the fish didn't seem to care.

nice but I like to go straight to the jig with the mono. JB, was it suffix ice magic in green?

No, not suffix. Just commenting on whether line color may affect fishing or not.

I’ve tried different colors of line as well. Purely just to try it. I haven’t noticed any difference in fish catching. It does help to “see” the line when detecting bites and when re tying.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
