I am looking for some suggestions for a family vacation this summer. Any help would be appreciated. We’re looking at going to Voyageurs National Park and renting a houseboat for a week in early to mid August. It looks like there are quite a few options. Houseboat rentals at Kabetogema, Crane, Rainy Lake to name a few. Although we won’t be fishing too hardcore, we would love to be able to have a  shorelunch or two with some fresh walleyes. It will be 4 adults and 3 kids. Does anyone have any first hand experience on these different rentals? Would you suggest one rental place over another for any reason? Nicer boats and/or accommodations, better fishing, better scenery?  Any places to avoid? Thank you for any help!

Anywhere in Voyageurs NP is great ! Rainy lake houseboats is a great setup. Work with them on best availability for a sandy beach mourning of the boat , and a great swimming area for the kids . Rainy is huge , lots to see and do with good fishing for your shore lunches.

If if you do the Crane lake , Sandpoint , Namakin , Kab trip its the same thing as above . As for which is a better choice , hard to say as both places are beautiful . Do one this year and do the other next year , it’s the only way you will find a preference.  Enjoy !

Thank you for the info, I will look into Rainy Lake Houseboats. Yes, a good spot for swimming and shorelunch is a great idea! I appreciate your input.

We came up yesterday & didn't see the little trailer they use there yet. The cameras at The Narrows were showing a lot of open water going west too, when I looked this morning

last 2 evenings have been fantastic.  Bird activity has been "predictable" and often. The group 3 toms are running on borrowed time now.  They made a mistake last night, however, Isaac froze and didnt pull the trigger.  Until next time.

I understand it was certified. I simply stated that I saw a video that shows what looks to be a hook in the back of the fish. And then you asked where this video was at so I posted the link to the video. It doesn’t matter to me if it was snagged or not.
