I've been bartending at Borderview Lodge and a fella came in on Fri. night and said his buddy hade taken a 12lbs. 1 oz. walleye that day off Pine Is. in 30 plus ft in the mid-morning hrs. Seemed to be a reliable fella with not much b.s.
Didn't hear of 13 or better though.
------------------
www.gonzosguideservice.com

don't know if it came out of low, but it was in the sunday paper in the startribune. 33 inches long, 19 inch girth!

That 33" fish in the StarTrib didn't come out of LOW. Can't remember what lake either. One heck of a fish he got out of his local lake.

I know of a guy from the TRF area that iced a 12lb14oz last thur around the Long Point area, but have'nt heard about this one. What a fish!! I didn't hear the length, but as I heard, it's the girth that counts, right boys.

Hi Tom,
Good to hear from you!

This past spring, while pre-fishing the PWT, my partner landed in the ball park a 13. It was bigger than any fish I'd ever seen. And that includes Erie! Of course this was Pre-fishing. (reason it wasn't measured: his brother totally botched the net job. 5 shots at it! He couldnt get the net together...quite comical!) Catch and release at its finest! They're in there...Have your camera's ready.

Wow what a fish. My buddy got a 31" out of LOW on Sat! Can you sa SOW?

Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion. Ice was in very good condition. Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park. There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing. The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out. The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island. There is a short spur road going east about half mile out. The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes. Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher. The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight. You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas. There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off. Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them. Fishing was average. Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit. Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75". Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes. Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.
