So I blow the motor on my boat at the last tournament.  They won't have the new one mounted before we head to Split Rock Campground this weekend.  Are there any opportunities for shore fishing this time of year near there that anybody knows of?  If so, what kind of set ups?  How about spinning gear in the streams?

Streams won’t have much of anything to offer this time of year. Maybe a couple tiny smolt rainbows. There are all kinds of shorefishing spots in the area though. Stream mouths are always the obvious spots to try. Spoons and spinners.

I would head over the hill into the back country and fish the streams and lakes. You will have much better success catching fish. Bring bug spray

We had a couple of clients week before last do some shore fishing from Duluth to Two Harbors (this was before our big rains) before climbing aboard for our river trips.  They mentioned it was slow, but the best opportunity was at the break wall in Two Harbors.  Long casting spoons.  Good luck, JH

Surface Tension

The water is cold up there right now but you still might want to try casting spoons from shore.   As mentioned going inland for streamers or hit a Designated Trout Lake https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/fishing/trout_lakes/list.html
