I'm looking to upgrade my early 2000's Minnkota Powerdrive 50 lb trolling motor and I'm finding that based on my boat length and weight a Power Drive v2 70 lb seems to be the best bet according to what I've read.  My question is will I notice a noticeable amount of added thrust between an older 50 lb motor and a newer 70 lb motor?
Right now with my old 50 lb motor I have a hard time getting to 2.0 mph on a calm day with just me and a small amount of gear in the boat (Lund Explorer SS 1650, 75 hp Mercury 2 stroke) and I'd like to be able to easily get up closer to 3 mph as a lot of the tactics for walleyes these days talk about trolling cranks up in that speed over weeds.  Also I'd like better control on windy days then I get now.  Do you think a new Power Drive v2 70 lb would get me up in that speed range with my setup?  Would a 80 lb Terrova be a big jump over a 70lb Power Drive v2? I don't see a big difference between Terrova and Power Drive V2 other than the 112 lb option...

Note to self.  Keep your "Packers Suck" T-shirt in the fishing boat for all future fish pics.   Ties are like head butts, everyone loses.

And this is why you ALWAYS check out FM. I had a crazy busy summer as I worked full time so my weekends and evenings I was always doing somthing and I never just sat down. So I just noticed I missed this great “ goodie” package. Darn!

A chain, a $20-$30 come-along and your set. Wrap chain around rafter hook up come- along and away you go. Been doing it this way for many many years without trouble.

I'll say this. As a Vikings fan, Mrs. Skunked Again was pretty emotionally upset in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. She warmed up a bit when her team came roaring back in the 4th. I don't think either of us would have survived the four hour drive back to MN without a tie.

Northern tool 1/2 ton chain hoist like 39.99 with gambrel works great.

I'm looking to buy a hoist for hanging to skin deer in the garage for around $200 can any one recommend one?

Wow, nice mix of fish too. Only a real fisherman will rub a Slimer and go right back to eating his chips! 😅
