Are there any bait shops in Washburn, or Bayfield? Looks like outdoor allure is closed down. Or maybe anything in Superior? I know of a couple in Ashland, and it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to sidetrack over there, but it’d be nicer if I didn’t have to.

The BP in Washburn sells bait ,,, Don't recall any bait shops in Bayfield ,,, Heidi tried to make a go of Outdoor Allure but just couldn't make it profitable ,,,, The BP doesn't have a lot of inventory  so River Rock might be a better choice if you need more then live bait

BP machine was broke and they did not have any bait.  River Rock would be the place to go.  In Superior you can stop at the bait box, they definitely have minnows.  Conditions are pretty challenging out there..  Good luck

Thanks for the info. I better play it safe and go to river rock. I’d like to see if they’d have any out of the ordinary open water tackle also. I don’t know what I’ll use for bait yet, but the bigger the selection, the better

Shipped out at 3:30 this morning. River rock was a really cool place! Wish I would’ve had a few thousand dollars on me, as I wanted to buy all the wood carvings they sold there

Fishing sucked! Started at Sioux River. Nothing! Then went up Bayfield with the intention of driving across the ice road, but the sign said cars and small trucks only. So back tracked to Onion River. Nothing! Everybody I talked to got skunked also. Also talked to a guy taking angler surveys, and he said nobody was catching anything.

I wasn’t able to cover much ground on foot, with all the snow. Plus I had my kids with. Call me crazy, but I plan to go back next week for another shot...no kids!

My kids love getting up to go on trips in the middle of the night. It’s been a tradition since I was a little kid. Aside from maximizing the day, I also prefer to drive at night. Well, I was hoping that maybe there would be less snow if I was to head up there next week. However, I see snow in Ashland’s forecast. So there might be more!

Well, if you thought you seen 2 kids laying on the snow sleeping, then that was me. My son actually did nod off for a few minutes.

Gave it another try. Did better, but still not good. Caught 4 perch. Marked a few other fish. Was another great day on the ice, weather wise though.

6/2/21     Catching lots of walleyes and bonus smallies on Mille Lacs. On shallow to mid-depth rocks the first few weeks, now deep gravel or mud when it is calm/clear and mid-depth rocks when it is windy and cloudy. Caught several of the elusive slot fish during the open period, kept and ate a few. Catch and release now and remember closed walleye fishing and no live bait July 1-15. Good luck, and I will see you out there somewhere.

6/16/21     Catching bass, pike, sunfish, and crappies on west Metro area lakes. Starting to see a few muskies as well. Water temps in the low to upper 70s depending on the lake. Still catching fish in shallow to mid-depth depending on the lake. Good luck and I will see you out there somewhere.

Congrats!  Bummer that the dead fish was the difference especially if it was healthy and swimming when you entered the bay!  What weight did you have pre deductions and what was your fish/weight breakdown?  Curious what people were catching... Did you fish the same spots on tourney day as you did in prefishing? and if you don't mind sharing did you fish crosslake or make it out to whitefish?  Sorry for the questions but I always am interested on the where, how, and how many in this tourney but never stick around for the long drawn out awards handout...

Got back yesterday.  Found some really nice bass and a lot of them, both large and small mouth in the 15"-17" range.  Found a couple of walleye, 14" and 15".  Had a great time as usual and the weather was calm for much of the time we were there.  Had most success with slip bobber and leeches/crawlers.

Headed up this afternoon for a solo weekend. Throwing for Musky but might pull some cranks or spinners and see what happens.

I have them on the cabin. Last night out fishing in Wakemup saw lots of clouds on the graph. Marking some fish, but no takers. Saw a guy catch a couple walleye's out there.

That's a cool catch! I caught an old ugly stick last year by trout portage. I found an old boat with side scan by comet as well.

Anyone having any luck?  From almost all reports i've read it's been pretty SLOW all year.  Headed up with a group tomorrow for a week, and will be sure to report back what we find.

So no bites so far. Did see a bank fisherman catch a rainbow so I asked what he was using. Same thing as me... hopefully today is better!
