Hello I have been tossing the idea of trying some tourny fishing next ice season. Was wondering if anyone on here does that? Any helpful hints would be great. Thanks in advance

Hey @sheldy4, were you looking to enter a few different tournaments put on by various towns/organizations or were you looking to enter a Tournament Series like the Ultimate Panfish League, NAIFC, MN Made, etc.?

I have fished in the Ultimate Panfish League for the last 4 seasons and I have really enjoyed it. I have learned a ton about Panfishing, how to break down a lake, how to catch bigger fish, etc. thanks to fishing this series. All the series' I listed above are all meant to be 2-person teams. One thing that is worth noting is that although you don't NEED it for the UPL, it would be wise for your team to have access to at least 1 Snowmobile, ATV, Side by Side, etc. for tournament day as Vehicles (your car, truck, etc.) are not allowed. It has been a great experience for me as I said I've learned a ton, had a lot of fun and met a lot of great people through fishing tournaments.

@MN BassFisher I'm not sure on which ones. Like I said it's something I would like to do. I'm not to sure where to get the info so any help on that would be great. Atv or snowmobile I can cover with no problem.

Had a family reunion on beaver lake on Saturday. Spent the morning out on the lake and caught close to 50 bass, with a few hammer handles. Most bass were just little guys, but I did hook into a 19.5 inch beast. Early morning was real slow, but once 5 minute rain storm blew through, the action really picked up. Lake really exceeded my expectations.

Totally agree with Del. You don't need to skip the walleye fishing altogether, but you picked a tough time of year for walleye fishing. Focus on other species which are plentiful, and then try your luck at the eyes here and there. You might get lucky with a storm front, a walleye chop, or some plain old good luck.

Yep little bit early to start thinking about ice fishing but want to upgrade my tv antenna on the fishhouse, so have a buddy that got a new fishhouse last year and it came with the King Jack antenna and he loves it so am thinking of putting it on mine, was wondering if anyone else has one and how they liked it? Also how hard is it to install???

I'm not a muskie guy, but you'll have better luck posting this on the lake vermilion thread

That was a fat one! We don't know smallies so even if we had measured it, we would have released it just the same not realizing what we may have done.
