I think I’ve seen maybe 3 people comment about ice fishing on Birch in the last 10 years.  I’ve never fished it myself but know someone who does.

I haven’t heard anything bad about the ice or the fishing so that’s good.

Sorry I can’t help more.

The locals don’t talk about it. It’s a great walleye fishery. The ice is normally good just stay away from the dam and where the rivers come in. You can get some huge crappies and gills on birch. When I fished it I looked for soft bottom areas.

I have only heard one report from Birch this winter but it sounds like the fishing was good for them.

Crappie, pike, and walleye numbers are good there.

I have had it on my list to try for a few years now. I'd love to get into some Crappie action but I look at the lake and think - where do I start the dissection?

Look for soft bottom areas and you shall find crappies in those deeper areas. I like points or humps of rocks for eyes. If you can knock down Minnetonka birch is a cake walk.
