Best Ice Braid

Recommended Posts

Vitreus

I pretty much wrote off braid for ice fishing a long time ago due to problems with the line icing up.

Perhaps it is worth revisiting the issue, as there are now braided lines specifically for ice fishing.

Does anyone have experience with these? Which do you use?

Tried using a few different brands  my self and what i found with was most brands that I had a hard time keeping them from freezeing. Curious if the new ice braids are working a little better myself.

Hands down Sufix Ice Braid has set the bar for braid designed for ice fishing. Sheds water, remains limp in cold conditions. Not a fan of braid on ice, until this stuff rolled out. Still fish mono 90% of the time....

Haven't tried Sufix Ice Fuse, but heard it's super sensitive, with virtually no stretch. With basically the same properties; Clam Frost Ice Braid, which is made by Sun Line, a premo company out of Japan, out this season.

I live on Little Cormorant Lake, I believe sometime next week that it will be open.  The lakes out there are changing fast!

we got a lot snow down in the twin cities than up north and temps are a lot higher than it was in 2013.   I think we will have enough open water to fish the opener.   No one needs to cancel!  I HOPE any way

what do you use for bait?  I heard you can't use left over fish guts.   do you have to soak them?  sorry not sure what that process is called.

meerkat, Many people eat the rusties. Very tasty but like walleye wings it takes a lot for a meal! Cliff

I just got an e-mail from Brent Flatten in the Tower Fisheries Office stating that they hope to get the Dock in by Monday if the river clears of ice. Will set the trap nets on Tuesday and the first net lift will be on Wednesday. They may even collect eggs Wednesday if there are enough ripe females. Very good news! Thanks for your update Brent! I would imagine the man made pepin connected to the sippi is open not the actual lake pepin?
