Anyone know of lakes with decent shore fishing near Mankato? I've gone to North Shore on Madison Lake but can't find any shore on other lakes near by. Any suggestions?

Looking for some fun easy Shore fishing spots. New to fishing as an adult, only fished when I was 10-13 in scouts. From California having moved to Moorhead Oct 18, just got fishing license for my wife and I.
Bought some poles and gear and just wondering if anyone can point me in the directions of some great spots to fish off shore, as we do not have a boat.
Thank you.

We are looking to add a sales person to our Vadnais Heights, MN office. If you are unfamiliar with our company, we publish regional fishing and outdoor maps/information for the Midwest and East Coast. We’re well established and currently doing business at most your mom and pop shops as well as almost all the major outdoor outlets and big box stores.
We’re in the process of expanding into new markets and are in need of some sales support. This is a great opportunity for someone with no prior sales experience that wants to get their foot in the door and work for a growing company in the Outdoor field. Must be a self starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills – AND must enjoy talking hunting and fishing of course….
Pay: Base Salary + Commission
If interested, please send me a private message on this site.
Thanks and tight lines!

Day 1 up on Flag Island Resort brought us many Walleye, Sauger and Perch on the Minnesota side of Lake of the Woods. Day 2 however we went into the Canadian water to fish an area that has Walleye, Perch, Sauger and some REALLY BIG Crappies! This plan and location did not disappoint - I won't be forgetting this day on the ice!

A group of us are planning on getting together on Lake Osakis for the day on 8/18/18 for a day of fishing and a midday picnic at the Battle Point Park. We would enjoy connecting with some fellow anglers from the site to connect and have some fun. Osakis is a great lake for big gills, slab crappies, nice walleye, pike, smallmouth and largemouth bass. The best walleye bite has been during low light periods. Sunfish and crappie bite all day. We plan on taking a break around noon at the Battle Point Park for lunch. Right now tentatively looking to connect around 8-9 at the access. Otherwise look for a red and white Warrior and connect with me, "Borch" on the water I'd you'd like. I might even have a fishing report really fresh fishing report for you.

Hello all,
I am new to the area and don't know where to begin fishing. I'm looking for a lake around Mankato that has walleye / crappies in it. I would like to make it out a few times this fall yet and then hit the ice hard. Any advice on what lakes to start with? There's so many that I don't know how to choose which one to go to.

Hey fellas, I developed a free fishing phone app for my fellow fisherman. It’s called FishIQ. I broke down 10 species by their location based on the water temperature. So if you’re looking for quick pointers or interested on where to find other species throughout the seasons give it a try! Hopefully it leads to more fish at the boat!

I hit 4 lakes today from sunrise until 4 pm. The first 3 were dead, but the forth one was gold. I moved at least 3 times on the first two lakes and cut close 25-30 holes per spot. on the lake I found the fish I started with a grid of 30 holes and expanded that to 90 holes as the fish were moving after one or two. A 4 mm gold tungsten jig with a ski mino was the hot bait. I tried other stuff but the fish did not want it. -

Made it back to Winnie on our second attempt. We left yesterday afternoon and the truck broke. The fan shucked a blade through the radiator for some reason! With help we got the truck to the shop and our fish house home by around 7. Cleaned out the work truck early this morning and headed back up. Caught em good the first hour or so but then real tight lipped. Perch, walleye and tullibee are on the ice. Missed two flags for pike. Curious how tonight will be. Nap time now to prep for the rush! 🤣 -

A little long winded but I'm excited to share. Got out on Tonka 4 times this week. Yes, I'm retired. 😀 Bought the Milwaukee 2803-33 and put it on a 6" lazer hand auger that I've had for 20 years but have never used it since I have a gasser too. Very impressed by that set up. Also gave the LiveScope a good work out. Monday afternoon found the sunfish and crappie suspended over a 40-foot hole. Saw fish with the LiveScope with the first set of holes and drilled a few more to get on top of them. Kept 3 of each for fish sandwiches. Tuesday afternoon in the same hole but near the ridge that connects shore to an offshore reef. Mostly sunfish there but a few crappie too. All released. Yesterday started an hour before sunrise and fished a small 12 foot-hole that I started fishing around 1970. Caught sunfish, crappies, largemouth and lost an ~8# carp at the bottom of the hole. Had it played out and laying sideways at the bottom of my 6" hole. Trying to get it started up the hole and my 4# test line broke with a new 4 mm tungsten glow wonder bread jig in its lip. Looked at the flasher and they was another fish. Grabbed the other rod with a 1/16 oz jointed pinhead minnow on it and fired it down the hole to be immediately consumed by a 12" crappie. All fish released. This morning fished the small hole again at the same time. Sunfish and crappies. Largest crappie was 11 7/8. No sunfish over 7". Just drilled 3 holes in the spot with the most fish from yesterday. Two for fishing, one for the LiveScope and set the house up. It's fun seeing fish creeping in from 8 feet away and you can definitely tell the different sizes of fish on the LiveScope. Reminisced on some of the times I've fished this hole over the years with friends and family. -

Son and I decided one last trip before ice melt on Rush. Lots of slush at access, probably unpassable by next weekend with 40 to 50 deg. temps next week. 25" ice with 4" packed snow on fishing area. No hot spot just area with 30 so wheel/skid shacks. Drilled a few around orange marker found nothing, flasher lit up at blue marker suspended 15 to 28 ft. 36 FOW. Bite non existing put everything down, colors, plastic, variety. Got 3 at 9 to 11 inch. Talked to several anglers, same results. Love the floor I built for the flip no water/slush everything dry. -
