Finally got some time off coming, the first week in October, and was thinking about the No Shore to chase grouse and fish. Since I've heard it was a particularly  "good" year for bugs I was wondering if they'll have died back by then. Thoughts?

If we get a hard frost you are golden but if it stays warm bring the best big spray you can get.

Thanks Moose. I'll keep an eye on the weather. Fingers crossed, I was hoping for some colder weather anyway. I'd be tenting it, so a week of heavy bugs doesn't sound like fun. In that case I'll probably head out west.

The first weekend of October I will be up chasing grouse. I will be sleeping under the stars if it's nice and not buggy. Fingers crossed we get a heck of a cold snap in the next couple weeks.

This weekend near grand marais on thursday and Friday the no see ems were out. A few skeets but once it cooled down the no see ems were gone. Fished a lake that known for horrible bugs and it was not bad.
