Crayfish

Does anyone in the area trap for crayfish?  My 6 year old son and I tried it yesterday; we only caught 2.  Does anyone know if good place to try?  We live in McLeod County and are looking for good spots out this way...not the cities.  Thanks in advance.

Up on lake vermilion all we did was take a minnow trap (or you can buy a crayfish trap) put some meat in there. Fish guts worked awesome, but most any meat worked and attach a nice long rope, throw em out and wait.  Overnight was best, but any time during the day worked.

If you wanted some bigger crayfish I would suggest opening up the ends of the minnow traps a bit as the small opening limits the size of the crayfish that can get in.

Several of the lakes around Hutch have decent numbers of crayfish. As stated above throw some fish guts in the trap, I would let it sit at least 24 hrs to get some decent numbers.
