What brand of Top water Frog

Recommended Posts

Cret Jigs

Just started throwing Frogs last summer! (love it)  What is every body using out there?  There are so many brands BOO YA, SPRO, KVD, SCUM ..ect...   I used Pad Crasher by Boo YA last year and it was very fun.  I really like the White the most.   What brand  & what kind you guys throwing out?   I am planning on getting some and curious what you all use? (already got an idea what I'm buying)

After using most of the brands you've mentioned, I absolutely love Lunkerhunt frogs...real lifelike, and don't seem to fill up with water as much as the others. They also hold up really well--caught some pike and bowfin without them getting destroyed.

I have been using the "Croaker" color exclusively, but definitely picking up some other patterns.

They also make a popper frog which is great if you want to make a little more noise.

So i have experimented with a bunch of brands to see which ones walk the best .... of coarse it depends on fisherman, rod & line being used.   7"2" Cabelas bass rod medium heavy tourney rod,  power pro 45# ...here is the order of best walking frog that worked for me off the dock.

1.  Terminator frog

2.  Bobby's perfect frog (pretty close to terminator) by snag Proof

3.  Spro frog (ok)

4.  KVD frog  (took some work)

5.  Booya pad crasher (teririble)

These are the ones i own ... terminator and snag proof where effortless!!!

Timber Ghost

Hello and apologize but if I repeat from other post sorry but I'm a Bass Fishing Fean and use to fish Bass Professionally for years and out of all the Frogs Spro makes the best casting and durability of the body is tremendous and doesn't get holes in them like the others and take water on plus they last a lot longer and most important they catch fish. Yes there are others that are out like the spro but the spro was the inventor of the new Frog body design and the rest copied them so that is why I say Spro is the best.  We need to support our locals and the new inventors not the copiers.

Thanks Timber Ghost .... What color do you like in very clear water on or near the pads?

Cret,

I always have 2 tied on the Glow in the Dark and a Black one tied on and I use them both on clear lakes by pads and or emerged vegetation. Some days they are all about the Black and others all about the Glow in the Dark and no rime or reason to sunny or cloudy.

Thanks for the compliment.  I've been up in the Cass Lake area the past few weeks.  Did very well on eyes but really struggled to find the crappies and I wasn't alone.

This surprises me Borch.  5-6 years ago when I was  living in the St. Cloud area, if you looked up "Mr. Consistency"  in the dictionary, your mugshot would come up.  Things must be all whacked out.

I am a catfish guy, but until now, i was unaware that i can legally use small bullheads for bait. However, I have never actually targeted them before, so i am just wondering if anyone knows of any "hotspots" for bullheads (if there is such a thing)

Pretty quiet in here.  I've been fishing out of town the past 2 weeks.  Hope to fish the area lakes this week.  Heard reports of a good day crank bite on the chain but not much else.  With the full moon coming up this week may try some evening trolling.  Anyone else having any luck?

Haven’t fished the river for weeks and came home to high, muddy water so I doubt I will for another week.  I’d focus on shorelines and whatever backwater I could find at this time if I did go.

It was slow for me Tuesday afternoon and Thursday in Frazer / Smarts Bay. Wednesday was very good in 20-25 feet leeches / crawlers on a Lindy or a jig. Absolutely beautiful weather!

My wife and I had a good morning on Friday with bottom bouncers, spinners and crawlers in 20-24 ft.  Caught 9, threw back 3 18-19 in, 2 13-14 in.

I would head over the hill into the back country and fish the streams and lakes. You will have much better success catching fish. Bring bug spray

Lori has some nice gills and some okay crappies normally. Green has nicer sized crappies and gills. Ann lake has been kicking out some great fish. Check out fishing club.

Streams won’t have much of anything to offer this time of year. Maybe a couple tiny smolt rainbows. There are all kinds of shorefishing spots in the area though. Stream mouths are always the obvious spots to try. Spoons and spinners.
