Finally... Next week I head up to the lake! I've never stayed with Schuster's before - thay say they provide "some" stuff - What else will I need? The basics (beer, bloody mary mix, and cigarettes) are covered. I'm assuming I'll need a few cooking items - chili pot, small gas grill, etc., as well as assorted magazines, cards, to pass the nights away.
Any advice so I don't get out on the lake and start cussing because I forgot something?
Also - how much room to the transport vehicles have? I'm assuming they don't allow us to drive our own vehicles to the houses.
One final question - does anyone know approximately where Schuster's has their houses?
Thanks!

Hi, I'm not the expert (by far!) but my husband and I are heading up there on Saturday, also staying at a Shuster's sleeper.
We're bringing some misc food (breakfast stuff, etc. since we plan on fish for dinner!) and munchies/pop. They do have a cook stove already, along with gas lighting so that's not necessary We're bringing our utensils and a few pots/pans. We're also bringing water.
The bunk beds do have mattresses, but we're bringing sleeping bags to sleep in on the matresses. Like you, also bringing cards. We're also bringing a radio.
As far as the transport vehicles, I have no idea what they hold- their website shows a Chevy Surburban-type vehicle size. I will be out there Jan 10-12 and could post where the houses are, etc. after the trip, if you'd like?
Chris

I just found this in the regulatons for LOW.
It was listed under, common fish and game violations, way down almost at the bottom of the page. I'm not looking to turn this into an arguement, I'd just like to make sure I follow the regulations when I'm fishing.

Possession of filleted fish on the ice/water. In Minnesota many lakes have length restrictions governing fish harvest. When fishing on these lakes it is illegal to possess walleye or northern pike fillets. All walleye and northern pike must be possessed in a way that length can be determined. This regulation is enforced "on the water (ice)" for walleye and northern pike. For other species with length limits (such as lake sturgeon or muskellunge), it is illegal to cut up the fish in a way that length cannot be determined while the fish is being transported.
Ole

I think i'm just gonna print out this thread and take it with me when I go. Of course I'll probably end up eating the thread while waiting for the DNR to write out my ticket. Should I boil the thread or or just coat it with shorelunch and pan fry it?

DMV,DNR all the same, get a different answer no matter who you talk to.

Central America. Focus. We almost went for a local overnight crappie run but the daughter’s septic froze so I got to work the brown trout pond through a 4 inch hole. It was opener today afterall. 😉

Ok, how did we get from crappies and freezing temps to pond slime eaters in south America? Focus! 🙄

The locals there shoot ducks but don't hunt them. If they see a bunch on a pond they'll sneak up and water swat them but it's strictly for food not sport. My buddy runs an outfitter so him and I will hunt a few days and scout then I'll help him with a group whose coming mid week. He's from there. Hoping he can come to Canada next year with me. He's never seen or shot a goose

Awesome kind of trip! I figured there would be a local benefit if you couldn’t bring them back (not saying you can’t). Having a connection down there is pretty cool! We donated a good share of meat to the village in Kotzebue, AK instead of shipping it all back. Pretty pricey and they really appreciated it. Win/win.

I don't bring them back, eat a lot then clean them for the village. Some like them plucked and some like the breasts cut out. It's really remote where I go and the locals live off the land. I know they want me to go get some doves for them too. My buddy is a local so we'll probably go get a deer as well for some venison for some of the elders in the community
