so I think I just discovered @Rick G secret to landing all these nice fish. The key is to have your lure color match your sunglasses? lol Nice fish as always

I went with my Father on Saturday for about 3.5 hours with that low pressure system coming in.  He had been asking me to go for days and I finally caved.  We drove separate and he stayed in the back of the boat (he's 67 with stents from a previous cardiac issue).  We caught 17 bass total and he caught 20 and 19 inchers, 10 minutes apart.

This was opener, caught 13 bass but these were the good ones!!!

I appreciate it @Wanderer.... I had a bass boat for years and about four years ago I had big motor issues. While it was getting worked on I bought a cheap fishing kayak so I could get on the water.  The rest is history, I ended up selling the boat and kayak fish now. The being so close to the water, the getting to places others can’t and just the peacefulness that kayak fishing provides changed me. I upgraded and love every minute of it....

If I didn't have a boat, I'd for sure have a souped up fishing kayak.  I really have no reason to have both and as long as I have a boat, I probably won't have a kayak in addition.  I have a 12 foot jon boat that I use for duck hunting in the fall and my Father and I use it on a small river in the summer where a bigger boat can't get.

Isaac was able to catch his PB yesterday.  20 3/4" 5lb 2oz.

Isaac was at it again this evening!  He has now broke his PB 3 times since Friday.  Friday he caught a 19 1/2" that weighted 4lbs 10oz, then Saturday the 5lb 2oz, 20 3/4" girl above. 

 

Now today, he catches another 20 3/4" but this one weighted 5lbs 6oz! 

He is on fire!  

Or, I am just good luck!

Well sometimes, sometimes he just steals it!

 

Heck I have been trying to get him trained in everything.  He loads and unloads the boat now, controls the boat some. (Hard to give that control up) and he has started to back the trailer up at the ramp.

Haha!  Cool deal.  I suppose you’ll get used to being outfished by just a little at least.  Passing the torch sort of thing.

 

A young determined and capable kid won’t leave too many bass behind for the back of the boat.  I bet it’s fun teaching and watching him come into his own.

It has been fun to see him get large fish this year.  Surprisingly, his biggest fish have come fishing behind me!  

When he is in front I have resorted to old fashioned tactics to keep numbers close.

Hopefully he becomes a more versatile fisherman than his old man.

Bass fishing has been bonkers this season.  Its been the best season I can recall in the past decade and its only June 24.

I tried something I haven't done in years yesterday.  I went fishing at night.  I started at 8pm and marked some spots to try while dodging waves from recreational riff raff in every direction.  By 9pm, they were all gone and I started catching fish.  In the next 2 hours I caught 10 bass including an 18, 19, and 20.5 incher.  Needless to say I am going to do this again.  I caught the 20.5 incher at 10:45pm, the biggest bass I've caught all season.  The 19 incher is below that I caught at 9:15pm in the fading light.

How big is the first one? That is a mighty fine looking fish! I am jealous!

It was a beauty...20” long and would guess 4 1/2+lbs. It was released right after the picture. My wife caught that one In late May in 10 feet of water.

Sight fished this one, also got a 19" off a bed with a senko but didn't get a picture because my phone died. Length was 14" for the one in the photo. Haven't been able to get out much recently, but I should be able to go Saturday.
