    I have found that with no snow cover .... that fishing in the day has slowed considerably probably due to light sensitivity and more noise scattering schools and or driving them deeper.  Finding the Bite to be much better early morning and about 4:00 till Dark.  The lake i fish a lot has been shutting down when it gets dark.  Could be that the area i fish ... the Panfish just move out of area when darkness hits.     by then i am to tired to move

Would have been nice to get an inch or two from this last little blast. You may be onto something  in regards to the daytime bite.

I have also noticed that any vehicle movement can be heard from a long distance away. Have not been going out early in AM. But have been out between 4 and 7 the last few days. Three different lakes and not much to show for it. But then - this is late January !!!!
