Does anyone know of a resort in the Baudette area that is willing to rent out a lodge and or cabin only, without renting fish houses at the same time?
Some friends and I are planning a 4-day trip for Late March 25-28, and will be using portables. There will be 8-10 of us. The few resorts we called required fish house rentals as well. Also, when must permanent houses be taken off of LOW.
Thanks,
Shake'em

Hey!
I know there aint much talk about zipple bay resort as far as cabins go but I must say that their log cabins are outstanding! Fireplace, hot tub, satelite tv, etc. A group of us went up there and stayed 2 years ago and had a blast! I think the cabins sleep about 10-12 people. If I were you, I would check these out. 10-4 over and out.

Thanks boener...
I believe our organizer contacted Cyrus, and a few others, all wanting us to rent houses as well. He also checked at least one hotel/motel, and it was booked. I will have him check this out.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Shake'em

Shake: We stay at Riverbend resort and when we settle up the bill it is always broken down seperatley with lodging and fish house. Its not a combined package, so I would think they would allow jsut the cabin without the hosue rental. I know they are booked pretty heavy, but you might give them a call 218 634 3084. Not the fanciest place on the lake but clean and a good lodge and food. Price for us is 34.00 per night per man. Good luck, and hang on. Bill

I have my own houses out on the lake. I have stayed at various resorts (i.e. Zipple and Morris Point) without having to rent fish houses. I would say you would have a better chance of doing this during the week. But in any case it shouldn't matter if you fish with them or not.
Permenant houses must be removed by March 31st on LOW. Good Luck and have fun!
[This message has been edited by 1tofish (edited 01-08-2004).]

Use the resort directory at the top of the home paje. These people sponsor our site and should work with you.

If I were you I'd call the Americinn in Baudette right away and see if they have any vacancy. Its a nice hotel and they give a 10% discount to fishermen. Then you could walk across the parking lot to Rosilie's and have some prime rib - best I've ever had!!!
FI

I'd try Ken-Mar-Ke, down by Morris Point. I will almost guarentee that they will rent you a cabin for a couple nights.

We do it every year with 4 guys. We stay at the Sportsman's Lodge and use our portables. We will be there the weekend of March 13th. They have never said anything about not renting a house from them.
I did come across the same thing earlier this year though, where all the resorts I called said you have to go with a package deal.
GOOD LUCK

Walleye Retreat rents just cabins. They've always got people going out on their own when I've stayed there. Right now they are pretty wide open for March. $35 a person per night. Checkout www.walleyeretreat.com

Bayview Lodge on Mn 172 is a good place to stay. It is a little further from the access but the price reflexs that at $30 per person at least it was in Deccember. The bait store is between the resort and the access. Also they have some larger size cabins to accomidate larger parties.

Central America. Focus. We almost went for a local overnight crappie run but the daughter’s septic froze so I got to work the brown trout pond through a 4 inch hole. It was opener today afterall. 😉

Ok, how did we get from crappies and freezing temps to pond slime eaters in south America? Focus! 🙄

The locals there shoot ducks but don't hunt them. If they see a bunch on a pond they'll sneak up and water swat them but it's strictly for food not sport. My buddy runs an outfitter so him and I will hunt a few days and scout then I'll help him with a group whose coming mid week. He's from there. Hoping he can come to Canada next year with me. He's never seen or shot a goose

Awesome kind of trip! I figured there would be a local benefit if you couldn’t bring them back (not saying you can’t). Having a connection down there is pretty cool! We donated a good share of meat to the village in Kotzebue, AK instead of shipping it all back. Pretty pricey and they really appreciated it. Win/win.

I don't bring them back, eat a lot then clean them for the village. Some like them plucked and some like the breasts cut out. It's really remote where I go and the locals live off the land. I know they want me to go get some doves for them too. My buddy is a local so we'll probably go get a deer as well for some venison for some of the elders in the community
