What a difference a week makes! River was high and muddy. At some point during the week it must have been really flooding! All sorts of debris along the shoreline...a boat, furniture, trees, building materials, dead animals, etc.
I went across the first crossing, but didn’t feel comfortable trying to make it across the second one, so didn’t make it to my hotspots. Very first cast I hook into a 16 inch brown trout! Ended up being the only fish I caught. Had a few other hits and swipes from some big ones, which was exciting.
Because the water was so high, I didn’t bother driving to any of my spots farther down stream. Instead, I swung over to the Kinnickinnic. Water there wasn’t as high or dirty. Caught 7 typical “kinni” brownies.
Brooklyn Park Lions Club has a Smelt fry every year. I think this year their going to try a Drive through?
We used to stop at Jack and Jim's on the way home from up north for their Sunday buffets! 👍
5 gallon bucket is 12" in diameter. According to the graphic above, about 25% of 12" fish are kept. Minimum size allowed kept in my boat is 13" and if fishing is good the 13's go back. Can't imagine keeping 10" or less, but it is legal.
Great to see open water! Thanks for the pics John.
