I have had sevral people take the glow glass jigs to the LOW latley usley they just take one or two cause of the cost but will stop on the way back and get a couple more saying they really worked good. Kinda wondering if anyone else are useing them with any kinda success.
Bill Powell

Bill,
I used glass jigs when I was up at Lake of the Woods at the beginning of December. They worked good. I can't say that they're any better than lead heads. Did about the same on both. The thing I really didn't like about the glass jig is it took a longer amount of time to get the jig down to the bottom. I'm heading back up in a couple of weeks and will try them again. MercMan

What kind of numbers were ya catchin on da glass jig?

I use them. I believe I have 5 different colors in my box. They work real great if you remember to re-charge them everytime you put them back in the water. I usually just take and put it outside (if sunny) for about 2-3 minutes while i grab another easy drink'n and that seems to make a big difference. I used one last week when I took the wife and kids out and it seemed to work fine. Good luck!

I used a glass jig on one line and a lead on the other for one whole day. I did about 50/50. It's been over a month since I was up there, but I bet I caught 15-20 fish on the glass (and boy did I miss my fair share, too!). Like I said before, the only downfall is the waiting and waiting for that jig to get down there (18 feet). It will seem like an eternity in 30-35 feet of water.

Where does one get glass jigs??

Posted

I know one bunch that fished out from Long Point in thirty feet and they said it was a tuff bite they put a split shot 10" above the jig and were claiming they caught two for every one that they did on regular ice jigs but I have not heard much about them since they came out last year and they were so popular for a while.

I bought my glass jigs from a co-worker. Have no idea where he got them. They cost me $2.50 each, so they're not cheap. I never did try the split-shot technique, but may have to. I didn't see a great enough advantage to them over lead, so I put my spendy jigs away and went back to the tried and true method.

Yes, Nucleus jigs are what I used and I bought them from an independent guy in Roseau, so it makes sense.

Central America. Focus. We almost went for a local overnight crappie run but the daughter’s septic froze so I got to work the brown trout pond through a 4 inch hole. It was opener today afterall. 😉

Ok, how did we get from crappies and freezing temps to pond slime eaters in south America? Focus! 🙄

The locals there shoot ducks but don't hunt them. If they see a bunch on a pond they'll sneak up and water swat them but it's strictly for food not sport. My buddy runs an outfitter so him and I will hunt a few days and scout then I'll help him with a group whose coming mid week. He's from there. Hoping he can come to Canada next year with me. He's never seen or shot a goose

Awesome kind of trip! I figured there would be a local benefit if you couldn’t bring them back (not saying you can’t). Having a connection down there is pretty cool! We donated a good share of meat to the village in Kotzebue, AK instead of shipping it all back. Pretty pricey and they really appreciated it. Win/win.

I don't bring them back, eat a lot then clean them for the village. Some like them plucked and some like the breasts cut out. It's really remote where I go and the locals live off the land. I know they want me to go get some doves for them too. My buddy is a local so we'll probably go get a deer as well for some venison for some of the elders in the community
