Dnr's future plan for walleye slot?

No, the tribes can't do what ever they choose to. The feds have the ultimate jurisdiction.  The process was probably spelled out in the court case that confirmed the band's harvest rights.

If there was ever a time for the dnr and the state to lie to everyone this was the time to do it. They just throw it out there that were over on the quota based on estimates let's just ride out the next 4 months and say we haven't hit the mythical quota yet. Now you opened up the door for natives to do whatever they want. Nice fumble dayton and the dnr way to think things through. Who voted for that bumbling idiot anyway if you did I hope you get skunked everytime you go fishing.

For sure the 47% that do not pay any of the tax burden....city

Sept 6 closure.

What was the point of causing an uproar for one extra month?  Get the resorts to the end of "summer" with walleye fishing?

That's what i was thinking not that many people fish past the end of October. There are so many walleye it would not have hurt anything. But it's political they didn't want to cause trouble with the natives if it's OK for anglers to go over than its ok for them. Which in my opinion  is extremely selfish for anglers and resorts.  We are catching and releasing my buddy and I caught alot of fish the other day no gut hooks all swam away just fine.

It wasn't originally going to be for such a short time.  Dayton had a meeting with representatives of the bands and then he changed his mind.

And you may think that every fish you release lives happily ever after, but it isn't true, especially in warm water.

Del, I agree.

I think It should have been shut down, after we reached the quota.

I keep reading and hearing comments on how many walleyes there are on the lake, I agree, there are good numbers.  I believe the fisheries dept. Knows this as well.  They are not willing to open things up this early in a potential recovery just because.  It wouldn't make much long term sense in my opinion.  They should be more conservative for awhile.  Let's try to build some year classes not just 2 good classes.  Then, hopefully, they can find a way to distribute harvest over the entire size range to keep a more stable population/size structure than they have in the past.

These things don't change overnight or in 1 or 2 years

Ya it was nasty. Went from 202 down to 168 in 30 days. Couldn’t sleep or eat much. Crazy time!!

Where I'm at way plenty ice. Out of bugbee give, the west road. Watching tipups. There is a group further out.   I'm pretty sure I'm in the windmill point area but not 109%certain. In 13 ft of water, have had perch on the camera non-stop but no water wolves yet.

First, my bad. I mistyped when I wrote that we thought it was over 25". Our estimate was more like 24".   Maybe the photo doesn't quite do it justice and remember, we are fishermen so we can sometimes exaggerate the truth. 🙃 I admit we did not measure it and without doing so we cannot confirm nor deny that it was approaching or possibly over 24" but every June for the past 20 years we have been chasing walleyes on the Lac Seul in Ontario and it is common for us to encounter smallmouths. Many of those that we catch measured in the 22" - 23" range and both of us believed this one was larger than any either of us previously caught. I remember my words when I netted it for him, "Wow! What a hog of a smallmouth!" It was fun and will live in our memories for sure.

Hope it goes well for you eyeguy!!👍 I had a minimally invasive back surgery  back in 2017. Can't believe I waited 12 years to do it. Yea they gave me oxy but I did not like how it made me feel. Know I know what a female feels like with hot flashes. UFFDA! I quit taking them.

Just a dumb question because i had someone ask me. Does anyone know if a person bought a 2020 license, would it be valid the rest of this season or starting March 1st.

Already had two back surgeries. 2006. 2010. First one went a lot better than second. Narcotics 9 months and terrible withdrawals. That’s why ibuprofen for this trip under the knife. I did the shoulder block. Only way to go for the first day of relief.
