Was Out on Long Point a couple days ago and had read on someones fishing report that salmon and chartreuse were the hot colors. We found this to be true, oddly enough these two colors outclassed gold all the way. Our jigs were of the glow type and we lit them up with our taser light and it truly made a difference. These jigs outfished our non-glow tackle 5 to 1, our last eye was caught at 5 PM. Next time we go out we are going to try a glow jig that rattles. We have never got skunked going out of Long Point, great resort great people and even greater fishing just a few hundred yards from shore!

I cheat, I have glow on one side, gold on the other. Definitely worked for me today.
[This message has been edited by Dirtyb25 (edited 01-05-2004).]

Dirtyb,
I'll second that, gold on one glow on the other and when they aren't workin switch to a jiggin rap perch color, out fished the gold and glow at times throughout the day.

I agree with the perch color. was out on Christmas day and pulled up a 29 incher on one of those, she hit it real hard, oddly enough I haven't had much luck with it since (twice since the 25th) I usually change up after not getting a bite for 20-30 minutes, the glows seem to be the most consistent, at least for me. I will try a glow/gold one next time I'm out. I really appreciate all of the tips I get off this site, keep em comin!

I actually used my buddies poles today, and he hasn't changed lures in six outings. He always does well, for a small but generous fee I'll let you know exactly what he has on grin.gif

Naw it's okay if it's a secret. We usually take home plenty of nice eaters. I guess I'm alway's trying to find that one bigger, better jig that only attracts big fish and lots of them. It's a pipe dream I know but it's fun seeing what works and what doesn't. My wife just came in and said you can have my tazer light, lighter and rod holder that have went down the hole all within our last three outings for that info, she says they are yours for the taking

ReelTime,
Glow lures are the ticket off of Long Point this year, our best luck has come from the glow red Angel Eye Jr. One thing that you might want to look into is the Power Flash for charging up you glow jigs. Basically it's just a camera flash off of a 35mm camera. I'm telling you, it makes that Tazer of yours look like a piece of junk, and it really makes those glow jigs shine!!

Lowrox, I agree with you on the power flash. Way better than the taser. Just make sure you don't stare at the flash when it goes off. It will leave you blind for a moment.

Lip ripper,
If people are curious about buying a power flash what would you recommend? I bought mine at Scheels All Sports in Grand Forks, ND for about $20. I guy needs to have plenty of AA batteries as well.

Yeah I live in East Grand Forks, Scheels is out and Cabela's does not carry em. I have heard good things about power flashers. But for now the taser is the strongest light I can find, there are other off-brand l.e.d lights that are just not that great. I have to take my Jiffy auger back tonight and get a 2 hp laser, it's the 2nd Jiffy I've had and the 2nd one I'm taking back so I'll see if they have any Power Flashers. Thanks for the tip

Hey guys!
Forget payin $20 for something designed to catch fishermen! I use an old 35mm camera flash that I had laying around. My buddie uses an old instamatic. Much cheaper and i think that the flash is more powerful. and my flash doesn't eat batteries.
Good Luck
web
Camera flash is the ticket! $14 at wally world.
