We are looking to add a sales person to our Vadnais Heights, MN office. If you are unfamiliar with our company, we publish regional fishing and outdoor maps/information for the Midwest and East Coast. We’re well established and currently doing business at most your mom and pop shops as well as almost all the major outdoor outlets and big box stores.

We’re in the process of expanding into new markets and are in need of some sales support. This is a great opportunity for someone with no prior sales experience that wants to get their foot in the door and work for a growing company in the Outdoor field. Must be a self starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills – AND must enjoy talking hunting and fishing of course….

      Pay: Base Salary + Commission

If interested, please send me a private message on this site.

      Thanks and tight lines!

      March 4, 2018:
We know everyone is waiting for River updates....We haven’t made the 120 miles round trip to International Falls to check yet. Grants Dad does drive that way once a week and when we know more we will let you know. We are hoping to have a report in a few weeks as there is quite a bit of ice on the river still.
      March 11th, 2018:
As of Wednesday there was no improvement on the river opening up. The temperatures have not been that warm with very little melting happening. Also the we have had some pretty cold nights in the single digits and low teens. This coming week looks like we should have warmer weather so hopefully it will get things moving.

In preparation for mt first trip to the Boundary Waters, I decided we might need a good, lightweight fish cradle to land the giant pike we're so sure to catch there. I shopped around and decided I could make one as good or better than what was available. After buying the materials needed, I ended up with enough to make more of them than my group needed. I'd like to trade for hook remover, jaw spreader, lure packs, or most anything useful to some rookie pike fishermen. I'll consider just about anything.

I discovered just recently that the May Township Board in Washington County MN is holding a public hearing on whether or not to block access to a public body of water from a public right a way. Stillwater is the county seat of Washington County. Specifically they want to stop you, hunters or fisherman from using Carnelian Creek to access Turtle Lake.  This was brought to the attention of the May Township Board by the Carnelian-Marine St Croix Watershed District. When I talked with Jim Shaver, Administrator of the Watershed district,  he said that the property owners that surround this creek and lake contacted him about hunting activity and potential trespassing on private property. The owners are also concerned about their animals that they have and dog trials that they hold on the property.
Jim Shaver also told me that the Watershed District is concerned that if someone got hurt using that waterway, that the Watershed District would be liable because the Watershed District improved the creek so that the water would drain from Big Marine Lake through this creek, eventually ending up at the St. Croix River. I do not believe that the Watershed District has any liability.
Jim Shaver said they then went to the Township Board with their concerns and the town board drafted an ordinance blocking access from a public right a way to a public water way.
I spoke with Bill Voedisch who is the May Township Chairman and he told me basically the same thing plus that the Watershed District is concerned about damage to a structure that is in the creek.
The public water is Carnelian Creek that flows out of Big Marine Lake into Turtle Lake. The location would be in May Township of Washington County. This is on 155th Street North just east of Manning Ave North. Manning Ave North runs north of Hwy 36. 155th Street is approximate 5 1/2 miles north of Hwy 36.
So, May Township is having a public hearing on March 1st at 7 PM at town hall, 13939 Norell Avenue North, Stillwater MN. If you can make the meeting and make your thoughts known that would be great. I can not be there as I will be out of town but the Township Supervisor told me that I could submit a letter expressing my concerns and it will be include. So if you can be there come, if you can't, you can submit a letter by email.  Below is the contact info for the Chairman and the other two Supervisors.
May Township Board Chairman, Bill Voedisch-Chair, 651-433-5976, [email protected]
      John Pazlar-Supervisor, 651-433-5013, [email protected]
      John Adams-Supervisor, 651-430-8134, [email protected]

Here is the contact info for the Administrator of the Carnelian-Marine-St. Croix Watershed District and website.

      Hello everyone,
Does anyone know if there are any fish in the East Branch of Raven Stream? It's in the town of St Benedict, just north of New Prague? I'm thinking of buying a bit of land that happens to have this stream running through it, but I would only want it if there fish in the stream. I'm not too proud, it doesn't need trout in it, panfish and bullheads would suit me just fine. :)
Anybody familiar with this stretch of water?
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Im going to cenaiko lake tomorrow morning. Ive been there once before but got there mid day so didn't have the following issue.

Is there a way to get there before 6am when the coon rapids dam park opens?
im guessing before the  park opens there is a gate at the enterance?
I want to get there around 430-5 so I don't miss the prime fishing time, being it opens at 6 that's a good amount of prime time wasted.

So my question, has anyone gone there (or the coon rapids dam park itself) before it opens at 6?
if so, how do u get in? I don't want to have to walk from the side streets all the way to the lake.
or is there a place to park closer to the lake outside the park area?

EDIT: It is okay to fish the lake before the park opens, there is a sign at the lake saying fishing is 1 hour before sunup until 11pm.

Im wanting to go and fish the missisippi river by my place, there is a little inlet with some down trees, a drop off  and a little bridge that goes over the inlet.
Its off of east river road at the end of 79th.  I believe its called riverview heights park.
My questions is, has anyone gone fishing there? I see people there quite often and have chatted with them a little bit, but haven't gotten much out of them.
It looks promising for some largemouth and catfish.
if you have fished there what works good? and are they biting now?
I will be there at about 5 am tomorrow morning.

Rick G, how many times did Hairy bite until you hooked it?

If you intend to fish past Sunday, you'll need a new 2021 angling license.   Additionally, the deadline to remove permanent/overnight fish houses is Monday in the southern half of the state.  If found unattended over night beyond the deadline, enforcement officials can confiscate the house itself.

Well I sure picked the wrong week to be up at the lake! I certainly enjoy the coldest of days more than this spring weather in February. Seeing the sun is nice, but I'd rather see that at the end of March versus now. What powder there was on the lake is virtually gone. On the plus side, the snow base is solid and good for 4-wheelers as well as sleds. Hopefully we get 6-12" of snow soon and then we will have some great riding conditions. I didn't ride the trails, but did ride quite a bit in the woods. Things are getting bare.   Edit - I just walked outside....it's snowing! I should have complained sooner...

At the risk of sending this thread further off the rails, let's talk "slots". There is nothing majic about a protected slot limit (PSL). It can be a useful tool if your spawning stock NEEDS some protection, or if there is demand for growing larger fish.  All of the lakes you mention have had a PSL in the past, and some still do.  The most used PSL originally, protected all fish from 17-26 inches, because that protection covered almost all the mature females in a population (and lots of mature males). The thought at the time was that if some spawners are good, more is better, or at least can't hurt.  Wrong! Almost all those lakes have since adjusted those PSLs, or eliminated them. Red closed the fishery during restoration, then used the PSL while spawning stock still NEEDED some protection. Upper Red has since abandoned the PSL all together for much less restrictive, one over 17", or 20" regulations. Both allow considerable harvest of spawners. The other lakes mentioned have all experienced some stockpiling of excess spawning stock and suppression of new year classes, causing managers to make multiple adjustments to allow more harvest and free up productivity. Lake of the Woods, which you didn't mention started out with a 19.5-28" PSL to be more compatible with Ontario's regulation (50cm). That worked out well because it allowed considerable harvest under the PSL, reducing spawner density before they grew into the PSL.  Finally there's Mille Lacs which has continued with very restrictive harvest regulations, currently with a closed summer season, no PSL, but insted a two inch harvest slot limit.  Lot's of large fish, an abundance of spawning stock, but recruitment of new young fish has been dismal.  Now can we get back to discussing why a statewide bag limit reduction applied across all Minnesota walleye lakes, natural or stocked, makes no sense?

Thanks everyone for the reassurance! Everything was fine but not a thing was biting and nothing even appeared on text book perfect sand bars 😭
