Family cabin up on the gunflint, but I haven't ventured far from home lake.  Loking for some lakes to catch some eyes and smallies...BUT....I have a 1850 Crestliner Sportfish with a 125hp.  So a little bigger boat for most of the trail.  Any help on some good fishing lakes on the trail that have good boat access? Thanks

Hungry Jack Lake would a good option. The launch at the lodge is plenty deep, you might have to back in at an angle because of their dock, it's not too bad. Unlike most of the other lakes up there, most of the dangerous rocks are marked, although compared to other lakes, it's not too bad anyway. Walleye fishing is pretty good. Smallmouths is outstanding! Devil Track Lake would be another good option. Lake is full of eater size eyes and tons of smallies.

I have a 17ft Crestliner with a 115. I have not had any problems other than getting to the lakes with a posted hp limit.  Loon is a favorite.  Won't give up any walleyes but smallmouth, lake trout and big pike are there.  If you're going down to Hungry Jack, West Bearskin is a good option. In June it was giving up some good walleye.  East Bearskin also has a nice landing with a good walleye population. A little bit of a drive gets you to Greenwood.  Another good option for a big water boat.
