Minnetonka - Spring Park boat launch

I'm taking the day off work tomorrow to fish and I'm thinking of going to Lake Minnetonka to try my luck.  Was thinking of trying to launch at the Spring Park public boat launch to be more centrally located (have launched at Gray's the east and the Regional park in the west before) but it appears to be limited with parking spaces.  One map I found from 2011 references a DOT overflow lot 1000' to the east which I can see a few boats parked at on the google satellite images.  How does it work to park there if the main lot is full?  Is it available weekdays or just weekends?  How many (extra) spaces are there?  Trying to avoid wasting my time if it fills up quickly also.  I probably won't be out terribly early, maybe 8 or 9 am.

Aaron,

By 8 or 9am you may have to go to the over flow lot. There is plenty of parking there and by 8 or 9am you will be fine at the overflow lot. May be able to get a parking spot right at the launch. When the main lot is full just park your boat at one of the docks and drive over to the lot and walk back. There will be tons of parking spots at the overflow lot if the main Launch is full.
