Is it just the west end or have fisher-beings vanished from the face of the lake?  It is mid July and Wakemup and Head-o-Lakes are basically deserted,   Not even any of those pesky musky fishermen.   I can go out on a nice evening or afternoon and maybe see three or so other boats.  Northern fishing is picking up with the musky guys disappearance.

I have seen more traffic in the BWCA than here recently.

Everybody go east?   Or head to greener pastures?

I agree that boat traffic in Norwegian Bay is way down this year compared to the last year.  Only have seen a few boats when other years many mornings would see several boats in our bay.  Fishing has been spotty.  Marking many fish on the screen but not many biters.  Was quite happy my son caught and released two 14 inch walleyes which is positive for the future.  Have lost some tackle to northerns lately and seeing clouds of baitfish near goodwill island.

I was up several weeks ago for a few days and felt the same way.  Not nearly the boat traffic I've seen in the past and I fished both West and East.   I caught an exorberant amount of 3" perch on everything from Lindy's to speed trolling large Rapala's.   I've never seen so many clouds of bait fish.  All the pike we caught were fairly large as well (24 to 36).  Interesting year.

I was up last weekend and barely saw a boat in Black Bay. Usually on a warm, sunny weekend there are skiers, tubes, and jet skis. I only saw one tube and they were staying at the rental place in the bay. It was all fine with me. Nobody saw me missing smallie after northern on my new top water spinner. They obviously liked the presentation but found the lure easy to spit out. It's the first time in a decade that I've regretted pinching the barb off of a hook!

I will be up on Wakemup this weekend Del, give a wave if you see a green and gold Ranger!

But I am with you, last weekend I felt like I had the lake practically to myself. The fishing was poor for me, I got out early on Sunday morning and targeted some smallies. Fished the tops of reefs, rocks around the islands and finally went to the pads for largies. Only managed to entice one largie to hit on a buzz bait.

Hoping this weekend is better, I am still debating heading to Frazier for walleyes Sunday morning.

Green and gold?  Someone might think you were a packer fan.

Up until the last day or so, with the unstable weather, I have been doing ok.  Texas posed 4 inch swim Sendo with light sinker has been working for me.

No wonder the boat came at such a deal...

I was out for a couple hours this afternoon. A white spinner bait brought a couple bass in the boat. Tucking out of the wind for a bit and will head out again later this evening when the wind lays down.
