Wild River Outfitters?

Anyone around here use these guys before and if so how did it go?

I'm considering trying one of these types of outfits for a half day of fishing & a canoeing crash course outing. Would a 3.5 to 4.5 hour float be sufficient to get enough fishing time in? I plan on beaching the craft and moseying around as well.

I have not personally used them but they do receive a lot of business throughout the summer months.  This is a good option for you to explore the upper reaches of the River.  If you have a portable depthfinder that you can bring along it may help you to find some of the more fishy areas.  A 3-4 hour trip tends to be pretty short when trying to thoroughly fish areas on the way down to the take out point but it will give you a glimpse of the types of areas that may hold fish and  decrease the learning curve for future outings.
