I'm new to boating and still getting the hang of launching. Are there lakes around the area for me to practice and fish at that are less busy?

Try Ramsey, just south of Maple Lake. Usually not too busy and a good lake to check out.

If you go to Ramsey it will give you some good practice with cleaning off the trailer and inspection after you pull it out of the lake too.

Constance is a less busy lake but doesn't have a real good access no dock but I think it has concrete ramp still, been a few years since ive been there.

Beebe during the week,(NOT WEEKENDS), Crawford, Rock, Mink/somers. Pelican.  Another thing is go to a school parking lot. Get in the hang of backing a trailer for 50-75 ft.

Thanks all! I have been practicing in a parking lot, but it definitely changes when you're actually backing up into a ramp and have to deal with random curves and dips at different launches. Also want to get used to all the motions of launching the boat and doing the basic checks before and after so that I'm not forgetting things when there's pressure around from people waiting in line.

Let us know where you will be trying to practice. Maybe we can show up and offer comments, suggestions, and heckle a bit for added pressure ;)

Spend 4 hrs at a public access & you'll see just about everything.I did on opener, helping monitor for AIS, & there were 2 that forgot the plug then. Another 1 forgot the safety chain & almost left the boat on the landing. There was 30 units in & out in that time.

You can have all the practice you want on Pelican.  :)  You may even run into a left over giant..
