Vermilion newbie - need walleye tips!

Hello all. Taking the family up to Vermilion this weekend for a little family fishing vacation. First time on the lake.  But an avid walleye fisherman on other northern MN lakes (primarily Rainy). 

Any walleye tips I can extract out of you Vermilion experts? The old classic jig & minnow?  Lindy rigs?  Shallow or deep?  I can see the mayfly hatch is going from other posts here so I'm sure it may be a slow bite.

What end of the lake will you be fishing the most?

On the East end I have been using Lindys with crawlers and leeches .

Rocky reefs or mud flats have been the best spots during the mid-day period.
