anybody have any luck with no quota bears around princeton? got plenty on trail cam but nothing too exciting in size.

I have friends who get bears just north or Princeton just about every year.  Hardest thing is competing with the natural foods.  There are some big bears around.

We've had bears on camera west of Princeton, just north of 95 but never really tried for them. They dont seem to be there regularly.

There have been some bear sightings just south of Princeton in the last few days. One sounds like a young bear and the other bear a few miles away sounds like a good sized bear.  I know the bear tracks behind my dad's place looked to avg. sized.   Soon the bears should start hitting the corn fields as the ears of corn are getting larger. If you are looking to find a bear it may pay start asking farmers.

I used to stay at my grandparents farm south of Ogilvie when I was a kid. One morning my grandpa woke me up and told me to come out and look at the sweet corn patch. He run electric fence wire around it with one wire 4" off the ground and the other 8" off the ground. If he didn't do this the coons would wipe it out.

 

Anyway a bear has got in the patch. As it worked its way out its nose apparently kept touching the wire. Every time it happened it dug at the ground. I swear that bear tried to dig a hole to China. Totally destroyed the patch.
