I've picked up 17 dead sucker fish ranging from approximately 12-16 inches in the last 2 weeks.  Do people know they are a natural part of the Minnesota ecosystem?  Are people mistaking them for carp?  Furthermore  Muskie guys pay $10 a piece for those things in the fall around DL.

Pretty sure they're natural.  I've always seen dead ones floating around on OT...not sure why that is.

Yes, my question was are they being caught & killed or naturally dying.  There is always 1 or 2 every few weeks, the last 10 days I've seen way more.

There is a die off every year. Suckers. White fish. My uncle saw the biggest pike of his life just last weekend dead on shore. Happens all the time, and it's not from angling.

No big deal, if only the 1 million rock bass would do this!

I've been swimming in Otter Tail since 1985 & this is the first year I've had swimmers itch.  I was thinking the dead fish are attracting birds which cause the itch.  The big deal is my wife & kids don't want to swim in lake itch.  Time to sell the lake place I guess.

We routinely have 10-15 people each weekend at OT LAKE. never had swimmers itch. , and  worry more about the snails for the itch.

Swimmer's itch is caused by aquatic parasites (flatworms) that naturally come from snails Unfortunately, the parasite stages released from snails

I got a pretty good cast of swimmers itch swimming at the Amor landing a few years back. Had swam there for years and years w/o a problem.
