Install/Temp Lowrance HDS 7

Question

Posted

I have recently installed a new Lowrance HDS 7 Gen 2 touch screen. I have not had water temp since day one. Called tech service, they walked me thru the process, transducer key in info, etc. Still nothing.

Everything else is perfect.

Anyone have a similar problem ??

Am I missing something ??

Thanks for any help.

I didn't watch this whole video but have you turned on the temperature overlay? Lowrance lets you program where you want information and what size to make it.

(I guess I can't figure out how to imbed a youtube video here.)

Is the new unit networked to another until that may also have a temperature sensor? Doing a google search turns up issues where you may have to go through the menu to decide which sensor the system should use.

What ducer type are you set at? It should have a "T" in it. Maybe your ducer is not a temp type....?

The cable tag calls out: HST-WSBL and that is in fact in the line-up when you go to the selections. Is it necessary to add anything else in the temp area other then the ducer type ??

Do you have the temp option set for the display?

Thanks Kyhl. I have the overlay showing on the screen, but the temp does not show. It is a stand alone unit, no networking.

I'm no electronics expert, but I think the temp probe is one wire out and one in and a variation in resistance is translated to temperature. If you could find out from Lowrance which pins on the ducer cable are the temp probe, you could check for resistance with a multimeter to discover if there is an open circuit. If so, that would mean just replacing the transducer. Otherwise, maybe the head unit needs to be replaced.
