Wondering what the word is on shiners. Will they be plentiful or hard to come by? Also, I was at our cabin last weekend and the water is as low as I've seen it in all my years up there. Be prepared, make sure you have a plan B as far as launching your boat. A pair of waders might be a must for a successful launch and deployment. Can't wait!!!!!!!

Bump, anyone have any info on shiners and water level?

Article in the duluth news trib quoted the guy from Ben's bait as saying they have shiners already in the store.

Stopped at Fred's in DR this afternoon & picked up some fatheads along with a few crawlers.Seen no shiners so we asked & was told they can only net Winnie for shiners until the water reaches 55 degrees. The little villigers(sp?)/zeebs start showing up then according to the DNR & have to stop netting then. They will have some by weeks end.Didn't notice shiners listed on any other baitshops signs.

Sorry Xplorer,I wasn't trying to say that what you said wasn't true.Just stating my experience from Monday,I thought I checked Ben's sign to see if it said shiners. They most likely have a different source for them or net their own

Has anyone been by the Third River landing? Just wondering how low the water is there and if that landing will be useable or not. Thanks!

I'm heading up Thursday night and planning a "dry" run Friday morning. When we flew the flowage last week, I saw 2 rock piles I never knew about. I'll let you know. When are you boys heading up?

I'll be there Thurs night hopefully by 9:00 or so.

I'm just 5-6 miles east of Mosomo Pt & we needed 1 of the extra 10' sections of dock to make our lift usuable. When we got the dock in it was close to 4' above the lake so I'm guessing we are 2 1/2 ft lower than last fall.Like Jason said bring waders or wear shorts & be prepared to go in.

No offense taken g55, just wanted folks to know that there was a place to at least check for them. I know when I come thru town and am looking for bait I call about everyone of them along hwy 2 from GR thru Gosh darn place looking for shiners, sometimes its only one place that may have some. Good luck this weekend, I'm hoping to make a day trip up with the son to Winnie in the next few weeks.

I hope & think that the new relaxed slot is going to be good for Winnie.Going to try to get over there a couple, maybe 3 or 4 more times this season myself.
