I cannot remember the last time Madison was so clear. You can see the bottom in 10 feet. I'm guessing this will make fishing harder during the day and deeper. Gonna have to try more night fishing this year.tough bite so far this year.

Washington is very clear as well...also a tough bite.

Francis is also clear. Let the water warm up and that clear water will be LONG! Gone. Tough bite is the going thing around the area.

Tight lines!

What do you all think caused the high water clarity? Is it possible the light spring run-off?

I have found the same thing. I fished the Maddy tourney on Saturday. Tough bite is right. Roughly 20 boats, 2 crappies weighed for the whole lot. There are good enough sticks around that if that happens, I am confident to say the bite is crap.

Washington is super clear also. I would guess about zero runoff has alot to do with it.

Run off could be a variable. No rain, whatever it is I wish it would happen again. Fishing in clear maybe tough but seeing bottom in 10+ makes me feel like I'm north of 212.

Fish are still biting. Make long casts and find some weeds or something for the fish to key on.

It's a product of very little runoff and hardly any precipitation. You can match up the citizens water monitoring transparency results for lakes in the area with precipitation patterns and see pretty good matchup on a year by year basis.

That and it's spring. Once the curlyleaf goes down, things will green up again. Enjoy the look of it all. It's kind of fun sight fishing and seeing all this beautiful clear water. You'll wish it was this way in July and August.
