Big pike

Rainy Lake is partially open heading out today for some pike.This is the time for some big ones,catch and release for us only.

The fishing was slow yesterday,very windy ,ice still blocks spots we were trying to get to.Rainy is very close to opening up completely.We did find some water temps in the upper forties.

Cold ,snow,NW wind gusting ,Iam going to try to get out soon as weather breaks,Rainy is almost completely open now.

Weather was better yesterday but the fishing was slow ,there was still ice on the west side of the North arm ,looks like it blew in around Shoe bay and farther up, should be all the way out soon.Fishing was slow the waters temps were in the upper 30's and with the lake levels being low we had a tough time locating any pike of size.We tried some humps for bass but didnt have much luck,spent most the day looking for pike.I will be back out this week as temps look to keep warming.

Fishing continues to be tough,Still some ice floating around.The water temps in the 40's.

Just got back from the North arm I manage to get 15 pike the biggest was 36 inches couldn't find the big girls ,the pike I caught were in 52 degree water I did find some warmer water it also held pike .The ice is all gone .I did have small perch following the baits, a swim bait was the only thing they would hit for me.

The big pike are starting to go,my buddy got a 42 incher and I got a 38 inch pike,we lost 2 other big ones,and seen several more ,headed back out tomorrow.

Fishing was slow today ,cold front last nite cooled water down ,did get 1 nice pike and a few bass . I have been concentrating on the shallows.

My buddy Larry was out yesterday in the rain and did well on smallies they are moving in now .Lar said he had a huge pike come out of the shallow water along a shoreline and inhale his swim bait ,it bit him off .

That's about it for now,it's raining won't go out today maybe tomorrow.
